VIDEO: Scruffy Michael Collings gets three yeses from Britain’s Got Talent judges
Michael Collings impressed the Britain’s Got Talent judges when he tried out in Cardiff earlier this year.
The 19 year old IT engineer, turned up to tryouts for the ITV show dressed in a hoody and tracksuit bottoms and underwhelmed in his initial VT, when he admitted that he comes from a caravan park and proposed to his girlfriend in an all you can eat Chinese restaurant in front of her mum and sister.
No-one, least of all the judges expected much from Michael, so imagine their amazement when he started playing his guitar and singing a stunning version of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Fast Cars.’
Before singing Michael told David Hasselhoff that he dreams of being a successful recording artist, who will be recognised worldwide, after he started performing we began to believe he could do it.
When Collings finished his rendition and received a standing ovation for his troubles, The Hoff raved:
That’s the best reaction we’ve had all day. Congratulations. I thought you sang well, you sang well with heart, you put the song across and you did it beautifully. Good job!
A shocked Amanda added:
I don’t know what I expected but I didn’t expect much from you to be honest. You’ve got a really interesting quality to your voice and you really delivered.
And finally Michael McIntyre passed his judgement saying:
Michael, you come out, you’re an IT engineer, you’re dressed in your sherbet leisure wear, you plonk yourself down and then out pops a great voice that instantly connected with the audience. It was an instant moment.
