David Walliams has confirmed that he will be taking part in Nick Grimshaw’s mega fund raising show for Comic Relief on Thursday 14th March.
The show will be streamed live via red button and is of course live on Radio 1. Other guests announced are Little Mix, Jessie J, Conor Maynard, Rizzle Kicks, Union J, Louis Smith, Claudia Winkleman and Wretch 32 (what no One Direction?) – with more to be revealed shortly.
David revealed to his fans this week that he and Alan Carr have written some great naughties for their hosting job on the big night itself saying on Monday:
“Lots of naughtiness with @AlanCarr today. I think it’s best we are on quite late on Red Nose Day.”
In an interview he did with Steve Martin for the GQ Comedy Issue out this week, Walliams has credited the ‘Father Of The Bride’ star as the comedian who inspired many of the most absurd characters in Little Britain and beyond after he picked up a copy of ‘Steve Martin Live’ while still at school.
Speaking to the Hollywood star during an interview in LA Walliams said:
“I could never imagine being a traditional observational comedian, I still can’t. Quite simply I am too odd for that.”
Meanwhile, the Britain’s Got Talent judge and his wife Lara Stone were spotted at Sir David Tang’s Chinese New Year party this week. The supermodel looked very pregnant, which is no surprise as reportedly she’s due to give birth to the couple’s first child some time in May. We wonder what will happen if the birth clashes with the BGT finals?
Meanwhile Joan Rivers revealed this week that Prince Charles is a fan of Walliams and of ‘Little Britain’. The 64-year-old royal enjoys watching the comedy sketch show, starring Walliams and Matt Lucas, after Rivers sent him the box set as a gift.
She told the Daily Star:
“I love ‘Little Britain’. I sent it to Prince Charles and he loved it. He really loved it.It’s insane, beyond funny, laugh out loud.”
