Castaway winner, Jonathan Shearer has placed an advertisement in a magazine begging for someone to give him something exciting to do.
Shearer reveals that he is on the dole only six months after winning the reality TV show, and is bored out of his mind!
The advert, which is linked to Shearer’s MySpace page, reads: “I am bored. I am on the dole. I see nothing on my horizon. Someone, somewhere has something interesting for me to do. I have created these pages to try to find myself a ‘job’, or a ‘wife’ or a ‘project’ or anything to get me excited about life again.”
Come on there must be someone that wants to work with a rude arrogant, but actually quite amusing man, out there!

Danny Wallace, presenter of BBC reality TV show Castaway, has spoken to Hot Stars magazine about why he thinks the show flopped.
“I wanted to do it because it was three months on a beautiful island and I got paid,” Danny told Hot Stars magazine. “If something sounds fun then I’m there.
“People are used to reality shows every night and I think Castaway being on once a week was a bit strange. Once the show was put on three times a week, the ratings improved, but it was too late. Some things catch on, some don’t.”
Live on Sunday night’s final episode of Castaway on BBC One, Scotsman Jonathan Shearer was voted the ultimate Castaway by viewers of the series.
He receives a month long, tailor-made trip around New Zealand for himself and a companion.
For the last two weeks of the series, viewers have been able to vote for which Castaway they felt had made the most of the experience.
Those with the fewest votes were Cast Off leaving just four – Francie, Little Al, Jonathan, Catherine – in the final show. Continue reading ‘Jonathan Shearer Is The Ultimate Castaway‘ »

Tonight, a new person is introduced to the Castaways. Selected via the Cast Me competition run in conjunction with BBC Radio 1, they join the original group who have now been on the island for eight weeks.
Presenter Danny Wallace introduces their new member. Having the benefit of seeing what the island is like from the series so far, what will the new Castaway have packed – a secret food stash, extra jumpers, extreme wet weather gear…?
The show also features the latest news and footage from the island.
Eagle-eyed viewers might spot something suspicious during the programme and they can visit bbc.co.uk/castaway to find out what is going on.
Sunday 29 April

Four people have been short-listed for Cast Me, the competition offering one member of the public the chance to join the Castaway TV show in New Zealand.
Viewers can now vote for which person they think should join the other castaways by simply visiting bbc.co.uk/castaway to check out the contenders’ profiles and make their choice.
Plus, in his own cheeky way, Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1 is supporting Cast Me when he sits in for Chris Moyles on the Breakfast Show this week. See bbc.co.uk/radio1/scottmills for updates on his antics… Continue reading ‘Castaway 2007: Cast ME The Finalists‘ »

The BBC have announced that they are canceling Castaways Sunday prime time slot, due to a massive plummet in ratings.
Instead of airing for an hour at 9pm on Sunday night, the show will now have three half hour shows, at 7pm on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. This will put it up against ITV’s Emmerdale, one of the best loved British soaps. I’m not so sure the move is a great idea!
Jason Ross, the unemployed, recovering drug addict, has become the first person to be voted off Castaway 2007.
The Castaway’s were asked to vote for the person who had gotten the LEAST out of their Castaway experience, they had a week to consider their decision.
The group was split, with everyone voting for either Jonathan or Jason. However in the final vote, Lucinda changed her mind at the last minute, changing the final result and sending Jason home.
The relief in our living room was palpable. Both hubby and I agree that Jonathan should remain in Castaway until the last week. I wouldn’t want to live with him, but he is interesting to watch, he makes great TV!
Jason Ross just got back and all of a sudden it’s time for some more Castaways to be sent to isolation!
This week the group were split into their two camps (East wing and West wing) and made to vote on who they thought was getting the least out of their Castaway experience.
After many disagreements and arguments (most of them coming from Jonathan!) the two Castaways chosen were Occupational Therapist, Joe Chicken and Margaret Thatcher wannabe, Clare Hilley.
I think the two will hit it off this week, and you never know, it might just end up being our first Castaway romance!

Matt Williams, husband of Erica Hurst is trying desperately to be given a place on the BBC’s Castaway team, inn order to be reunited with his new wife.
The pair were married only a matter of weeks before Erica jetted off to the other side of the world to take aprt in the BBC’s newest reality TV show. Matt has now formally nominated himself with a Radio 1 competition to join the 14 other castaways on New Zealand’s Great Barrier Island this week.
The nightclub security manager from Lostock is hoping to make a shortlist from which the station’s listeners will vote one person onto the show next month.
If the ratings keep slipping, BBC might just find this is the twist they need to bring the viewers back.

After being sent into isolation for a whole week, BBC has reported today that unemployed, Kent man, Jason Ross is at the end of his tether and wondering if he can cope with his new situation.
The Castaway website reports:
All he wants is to “get off this damn island”. The wind is starting to kick in, he’s pulled up the door to his shack but it’s still desperately miserable and getting worse.
Can’t say that I blame Jason. Being alone for a long period of time is bad enough, but when you are confined to a run down shack in the middle of a storm that just keeps getting worse, I can’t imagine that optimism would be easy.
