Grease Is The Word: David Gest And Sinitta Demand More Airtime

Grease ITV JudgesThe Mirror has reported that David Gest and Sinitta have issued complaints to ITV bosses and demanded that they receive more airtime as judges on ITV’s reality TV show, ‘Grease Is The Word.’

A source told the newspaper:

“Sinitta has used a stopwatch to time her screen slots and has made it clear she’s not on long enough. So she’s going to wear even sexier outfits now. “And Gest isn’t holding back either, calling (fellow judge) David Ian ‘a moron’ several times and ranting afterwards about just being an extra.”

Any Dream Will Do Beats Grease Is The Word AGAIN!

Any Dream Will Do has certainly been the success story of the year for the BBC. The smash hit reality TV has seen off competition from ITV’s Grease Is The Word admirably and once again this week has whooped the show in the ratings.

Any Dream Will Do, took 5.5 million viewers and a 29% share for its first outing, with ITV’s Grease is the Word managing just 3.6 million viewers and an 18.3% share.

Why do viewers prefer the BBC’s musical show to ITV’s….Kevin O’Sullivan from The Sunday Mirror has given us his five reasons:

1 Far from being “the world’s greatest musical”, Grease is garbage compared with the strangely likeable Andrew Lloyd Webber’s tune-tastic Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

2 Grease’s couldn’t-careless judges Sinitta, David (yawn) Gest and Brian Friedman don’t know what they’re talking about. And their fiery fellow panellist David Ian is so constantly furious with them it’s a bit frightening.

3 Failing to fake any semblance of sincere interest, humour-free host Zoe Ball brings nothing to ITV’s party except a very loud voice. But on the Beeb, Graham Norton’s razor-sharp wit helps make things far less po-faced.

4 Grease Is The Word’s feeble finalists are so lacking in star quality they’ll need to change the catchphrase to: “You could end up having to be Danny and Sandy.” And here’s a new one for Any Dream Will Do: “You could be gay!”

5 Sinitta’s clothes. Sinitta’s presence. Grease executive producer Simon Cowell’s absence.

What do you think?

Reality TV Shows: Is There Any Undiscovered Talent Left?

The News Of The World have reported today on the close links between some of the finalists on ITV’s Grease Is The Word and BBC’s Any Dream Will Do, and top record producers.

They explain that from Grease Is The Word, Susan McFadden has close ties to Simon Cowell through her brother, Brian McFadden and Antony Kavanagh has already had a two record deal with Virgin records.

On Any Dream Will Do, Craig Chalmers has already been a finalist on Pop Idol and entered the UK top ten with a Scottish band called No Reason.

A TV insider revealed: “There are serious questions being raised about how many shows like this can be sustained.
“Popstars, Pop Idol, The X Factor and How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria drained the talent pool.

“That is the main reason why The X Factor has lowered the age of entry this year to just 14 - the producers realise they need to find people who haven’t appeared on TV before.”

What do you think? Are we running out of undiscovered talent in the UK or could there be a more sinister explanation for all these ‘coincidences’?

Any Dream Will Do: Zoe Tyler Hits Out At Sinitta

Any Dream Will DoFiesty vocal coach from BBC’s Any Dream Will Do, Zoe Tyler, has hit out at her ex pupil Sinitta who is currently judging on ITV’s Grease Is The Word.

Zoe not only criticised Sinitta but also questioned her right to judge on that type of show, saying:

“Sinitta just makes a bikini and a fur coat look good.”

She added:

“Yes, she’s done a few West End shows but she doesn’t have my expertise. She doesn’t know what’s right.”

To be honest I’d have to agree with Zoe.

Grease Is The Word: Tom Bradley and Kate Somerset-How Leave The Show

Tom Bradley and Kate Somerset-HowTom Bradley and Kate Somerset-How have become the first couple to be eliminated from ITV’s reality TV show, Grease Is The Word.

The pair found themselves in the bottom two with Bradley Clarkson and Michelle Antrobus and judge Brian Friedman was quick to tell the public that they had picked the wrong people. He reminded us that we are NOT voting for our best friends but for the best Sandy and Danny.

However the choice was made and the very talented Tom and Kate have left. Its a shame….

“Now she may have to wear an eye-patch when she performs in Saturday’s show. She ran off crying when it happened and she is very upset.

“We have told her to rest and she is wearing an eye-patch as a precaution at the moment.”

Michael Quinn and Vicky HoylesThe Judges took the decision to pair Michael and Vicky together for the live shows because they felt that they have a very real chemistry together and looked great as a couple.

No stranger to the stage, 24-year-old Michael Quinn has worked on numerous shows including a tour of Joesph, Jailhouse Rock and Beauty and the Beast.

Currently living with his girlfriend of two years in Lewisham, Michael admits he is a massive John Travolta fan but is worried what the judges will say on the show.

Grease Is The Word: Danny Bayne & Susan McFadden

Danny Bayne & Susan McFaddenDanny and Susan were paired up together by the Judges on the final day of Bootcamp. Danny obviously has a little twinkle in his eye for Susan, but being five years her junior will he win her over with his boyish charms or will she just see him as a kid brother?

Danny by name but is he Danny by nature? Danny Bayne, 19 from Kent thinks he has the all-round performance skill and quality to be Danny at the West End.

During his first audition David Ian was impressed with the young performer saying he had it all and David guest commented that Danny had a ‘John Travolta like quality.’

“I’ve always loved Grease, it’s a classic. So, when I heard there were open auditions I was there in a flash,” says Danny. Read more & comment »

Grease Is The Word: Richard Morgan and Joanna Power

Richard Morgan and Joanna PowerRichard picked Joanna to be his prom partner at Bootcamp and the pair have been inseparable ever since, and the Judges saw no reason to split up the partnership. Seeing themselves as the “underdogs” of the competition, as neither have had any formal training, they are hoping they can work hard enough together to win over the voters.

Plasterer Richard Morgan, 20, from Rotherham was overcome with emotion when he was told he was through to the live shows.

Richard has been singing for eight years and regularly performs in working men’s clubs, as well as performing at Sadler’s Wells and The Royal Albert Hall. However, his proudest moment so far was holding his baby girl, Ellen, in his arms for the first time.

Grease Is The Word: Tom Bradley and Kate Somerset-How

Tom Bradley and Kate Somerset-HowTom was originally paired with Hayley Clarke, and Kate with Michael Quinn but the Judges decided to put Tom and Kate together after Bootcamp because they felt the two of them together had a strong look as a couple. And with Tom’s cheekiness they are hoping he will bring out the naughty side of an otherwise prim Kate.

Tom Bradley, a 19-year-old actor from Leicester was dubbed a ‘real life Danny’ by David Ian at his first audition and did not disappoint at Bootcamp.

Although he is young, Tom has worked as a singer on a cruise ship and has been involved in amateur theatre.
