I’d Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger has already dropped from a size 16 to a 14 whilst rehearsing for the role of Nancy, but she is determined to go even further and fit into a pair of size 12 jeans.
However that’s as far as she wants to go, because Jodie is sure the public don’t want to see a skinny Nancy.
Jodie told this week’s Closer magazine:
‘No one wants a stick-thin Nancy – after all she’s described in the book as stout!’ she said.
I am gutted! Andrew Lloyd Webber has confirmed that he will not be taking part in any BBC talent shows in 2009 due to his other work commitments.
Speaking to Closer magazine Webber revealed:
“I’ve been asked to do another Saturday show, but I think this year I need to give the casting show a rest.”.
“I have my own musical in Phantom two to get on with and bits and pieces to do in America.
“There will not be another custom show with the BBC next year – [not] with me anyway. But I will do the search in 2010 to find Dorothy and possibly Toto the dog,” he added.
“The problem with Phantom two is I can’t produce the show in full. So I can’t commit to a BBC show until 2010.
“I can’t just do them – I need to be involved in producing it and you need a team, a theatre and everything else. And Phantom two is my first concern right now.”
Lloyd Webber also commented that he didn’t think this year’s show, ‘I’d Do Anything’, connected with the public as well as previous shows because he wasn’t as involved in the production. Read more & comment »
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has told The Daily Mirror that he has been completely surprised by his second career as a TV personality. The I’d Do Anything judge admitted that he never imagined that he would be appearing on TV shows as often as he is.
“I didn’t really mean to start a second career. I stumbled on it by accident. Read more & comment »
I’d Do Anything contestant, Rachel Tucker made her West End debut last night in Ben Elton musical, ‘We Will Rock You’.
Rachel expressed her gratitude to the BBC show which gave her the perfect springboard into the career she had always wanted.
Tucker told ITN: “It’s my first role in the West End, live in front of thousands of people, and I must say, I’m absolutely petrified. It’s very different to what I’ve done before. Read more & comment »

Jodie Prenger was certainly not the most experienced person who auditioned for this years I’d Do Anything, and before she takes on the role of Nancy, Jodie is about to appear in the ensemble cast of Les Miserables to build on her acting skills.
Cameron Mackintosh, who will be producing Oliver!, said: “One of the great things about Jodie is that she grasps every opportunity offered to her and she is eager to work.
“When she won I’d Do Anything, Jodie told me that she didn’t want to sit around for six months but wanted to really use the time before going into rehearsals – I’m delighted that this is one of the things she’s chosen to do.”
It also recently emerged that Jodie has been attending acting school, RADA in order to prepare her for her stage debut.

It seems that Cameron Mackintosh was so worried about Jodie Prengers acting skills that he has enrolled her for a crash acting course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
Jodie won BBC talent search, I’d Do Anything in May, but rumours persisted that Mackintosh would rather have had Rachel Tucker for the role.
Jodie admitted to The Sun: “Singing live on Saturday night TV in front of millions of people was not nearly as scary as tackling Shakespeare at RADA.”
Last night, a source said: “Jodie is not a fully-trained actress and Cameron just wanted to make sure she’s up to scratch by the time rehearsals start in October.”
I’d Do Anything star Samantha Barks has managed to land the lead role in the UK tour of Cabaret.
The 17-year-old, who finished in third place on the BBC reality TV show earlier this year, will play cabaret performer Sally Bowles in the popular musical.
Barks will appear alongside dancer and former I’m A Celebrity contestant, Wayne Sleep, who is taking on the role of the Emcee.
Earlier this month we reported that Rachel Tucker, who finished in fourth place had landed the lead role in Ben Elton’s West End show, We Will Rock You.
Jodie Prenger has hit back at Oliver producer, Cameron Mackintosh after he implied she was too fat for the role of Nancy, and revealed his preference for fellow contestant Jessie.
Prenger declared: “Cameron gave me little slights and said he wanted Jessie — who I love to bits — to win.
“But I want to give him the best Nancy that he’s ever seen and I’m confident I’m going to do it.”
I don’t know why I was so shocked that Jodie won ‘I’d Do Anything’ last night. She and Jessie were the only two that had never been in the bottom two, so they obviously had a lot of public support. But in the end I thought the public would do the predictable thing and vote in the young pretty girl.
In a way, after all the Britain’s Got Talent ‘fix’ claims, it was nice to see people vote in I’d Do Anything, for the person they thought was most talented, and not who they fancied or who the judges wanted them to choose. Read more & comment »
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is reported to have had a furious row with Cameron Mackintosh last week, after he got rid of Rachel Tucker from BBC One’s ‘I’d Do Anything.’
Sir Andrew was faced with the choice after Rachel ended up in the bottom two along with fellow hot favourite, Samantha. Mackintosh, who is producing the Oliver West End show is said to have wanted Rachel for the role.
A source told The Sun: “It was a terrible row. They were screaming at each other.”
Andrew confirmed: “The fact is Cameron wanted Rachel to stay. He wanted Rachel and Samantha in the final from the beginning of the series. Rachel did a fantastic performance but I had to face up to the fact that she wouldn’t have gone any further. Read more & comment »
I’d Do Anything judge John Barrowman tells Jonathan Ross tonight that he has a favourite Nancy – just a day before the grand final of the contest to find the West End’s newest star.
John and Andrew Lloyd Webber pop in for a chat on this week’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC One and discuss which of the three finalists should land the lead role in Cameron Mackintosh’s revival of Oliver!
“Andrew has a specific favourite, we all do,” admits John. “The three girls all have a great amount of talent, how I look at this now is, this is going to be life-changing, who can handle it?” Read more & comment »
In an interview with the BBC, Andrew Lloyd Webber has revealed the name of his new Phantom Of The Opera sequel, and also revealed that he may not do any more reality TV shows with the channel.
Andrew revealed: “I have got my own new show coming on next year, which is my sequel to the Phantom of the Opera, which I think is going to be called Phantom: Once Upon Another Time.
“But that will come on in November next year, probably, if everything goes well.”
He added that they couldn’t do a reality TV show without a musical at the end for the winner to star in. Read more & comment »
Jodie Prenger may have already lost a whopping 11 stone, as part of Living reality TV show, ‘The Biggest Loser’, but it seems as though that might not be enough for Cameron Mackintosh.
Jodie is up against Jessie and Samantha in this weeks I’d Do Anything final, however Oliver producer Cameron Mackintosh is said to favour the slimmer girls for the roile of Nancy.
‘Cameron thinks she is a bit too big and has more or less said so,’ said Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber to the Daily Mirror.
But Sir Andrew disagreed with Mackintosh and said: Read more & comment »
