Girlband - X Factor 2008After Girlband sang Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal The World’ on Saturday night, the song that led to them leaving the show, Simon Cowell commented that it was such a cliché, he half expected to see a polar bear and children’s choir emerge onto the stage.

It has emerged today that Simon wasn’t so far off the mark as originally the girls were supposed to perform with a children’s choir complete with fluffy rabbits.

In a chat earlier this morning Phoebe from Girlband told Unreality TV:

“They wanted us to come out with a school choir and all the kids to be holding hamsters and gerbils. We texted Louis and pleaded with him not to let it happen.”

X Factor 2008: Interview With Bad Lashes

Bad Lashes - X Factor 2008

Unreality TV was lucky enough to grab a quick chat with Sam Bennett from outgoing X Factor act, Bad Lashes this afternoon. Here’s what she had to say about their time on the show and what it’s like to leave it so early.

Did you expect to go out early in the competition? Based on Saturdays performances, who did you think would have been voted off?

“We are gutted that we left so early. We never expected to be the first to leave, we didn’t expect to win, but to be the first out is awful!”

“I thought everyone did really well on Saturday night, we were all nervous but everyone did a fantastic job. When I watched the show back I couldn’t even pick anyone for the bottom two”

Your mentor, Louis Walsh  originally described Bad Lashes as a bunch of hairdressers – do you think his opinion of you changed, and how was he as a mentor?

“I think Louis changed his opinion of us once he got to know us, we got along really well and even since we’ve left Louis has texted us a few times telling us to keep our chins up.”

“We were happy to have Louis as a mentor because he has so much experience of working with groups, we wouldn’t have wanted anyone else.

Strictly Come Dancing 11th October: Live Blogging!!!

Right, well it’s week three on Strictly Come Dancing and we are going to be covering the show live right here!!! Stay with us and leave your comments below. Enjoy!

17.50: Brucie just took the p**s out of Jonathan Ross. Johnathan slagged Bruce on his show last night saying that no-one would ever get rid of Brucie….even Hitler tried and failed. Bruce retold the joke and when Tess asked why he said he thought it was a good joke but deserved a decent sized audience miiiaaaooow!!

17.56: Christine Bleakley and Matthew Cutler take to the floor with a quickstep. I can’t believe that this is only Christine’s second performance on the show, she looks like she has been dancing for years. Her footwork looked light and she looked stunning in her canary yellow dress. Does anyone else think there is something a bit Audrey Hepburn in this girl?

Scores: Craig 6, Arlene 6, Len 7, Bruno 7 = 26

18.04 Jodie Kidd & Ian Waite are going to treat us to a rhumba tonight and WOW look at that rather revealing purple dress! I don’t know what the judges are going to say but I think this is a much improved routine, hopefully Jodie will avoid the bottom two tonight………Uh oh Len didn’t like it, he thought it lacked emotion. Craig thought there was an improvement but still thought Jodie looked self conscious and nervous.

Scores: Craig 4, Arlene 6, Len 6, Bruno 6 = 22

18.12 Heather Small and Brian Fortuna are performing the quickstep next but Heather is seriously nervous about the dance. Heather started off a bit out of time, but soon seemed to get it together. For someone so nervous, she seems to be dancing wonderfully to me. Bruno doesn’t agree unfortunately, apparently Heather was too tight. Craig liked the energy but not the timing, Arlene thinks Heather was too heavy and Len was making some point about her heels which I didn’t really get!

Scores: Craig 6, Arlene 5, Len 6, Bruno 6 = 23

18.21 Cherie Lunghi and  her partner James Jordan will tackle the rhumba tonight and Cherie is feeling pressured after being top of the leaderboard for her last dance. Well they are dancing now and WOW, the temperature in that studio must have just gone through the roof. Cherie is amazing and puts all those younger birds to shame! Craig loved it saying “every single inch of you worked that dance floor!”. Arlene had a tear in her eye and loved the tenderness. Len thought it was a brave routine with lots of emotion and Bruno thought Cherie was a cut above everyone else.

Scores: Craig 9, Arlene 9, Len 8, Bruno 9 = 35 The highest rhumba score EVER on the show!

18.28 We cut across to the men rehearsing for their group dance tonight. They are all dressed as characters from fame, and John Sergeant is just lovely!! The routine looks quite complicated and I can see one of them ending up on their bums in the middle of the floor!

18.31 Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett are taking on the quickstep tonight and her partner has compared her to an excitable springer spaniel. Can I just say….what is going on with her hair? And that dress is less than flattering…anyway back to the dancing. I didn’t like it. I thought that Jessie looked as though she was being pulled around by Darren. Arlene didn’t like it, Len thought Jessie was pushing her bosom too close to Darren (oh er Mrs!), Bruno thought the posture was bad also which ruined the whole dance and Craig the evil one hated it and said it wasn’t her finest hour.

Now I feel bad, Jessie is crying and is gutted by the comments. Poor her!

Scores: Craig 3, Arlene 5, Len 5, Bruno  6= 19

18.39 Lisa Snowdon and Brendan Cole are dancing the rhumba tonight and Lisa is determined not to let the nerves destroy her this week. She starts well, between that dress and her smouldering moves you could really see these two getting it on. Bruno thought there was plenty of juice and loves Lisa’s hips and legs. Craig congratulated Brendan on getting the choreography right. Arlene was loving the hip action and Len loved the footwork. Good night for Snowdon and Cole.

Scores: Craig 8, Arlene 8, Len 8, Bruno 8 = 32

18.46 Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone take on the quickstep tonight. I think Rachel is doing really well but to be honest the feet are all moving a bit fast for me to register what is going on….lucky I’m not a judge eh? Craig thought the dance was “light, tight and bright.” Arlene thinks Rachel has no worries about going head to head with the boys next week. Len thought that after the fiddly start the dance was fantastic, Bruno thinks their dancing is effortless and branded it the best quickstep of the night.

Scores: Craig 8, Arlene 8, Len 9, Bruno 8 = 33

18.52 Mens Group Dance, I can’t spell the name of the dance but its a cuban wheel dance in which the dancers are supposed to stay in a circle. Woo hoo look at all that shimmying! All in all the boys are doing well, though Andrew Castle’s bum is sticking out again. Arlene loved Marks shimmy but thought he lost it after that and Len loved Tom and Austin but thinks the rest of the boys will lose out next week against the girls.

Reality TV Beats Stress!!!

Researchers have said that a daily dose of reality TV helps bust stress and improve concentration according to The Sun. I knew there had to be a reason why I am such a laid back, easygoing, yet focused sort of person!

The newspaper reports that shows like Big Brother, X Factor and The Family (which I watch on an almost daily basis by the way!) were found to improve social interaction (it’s all that water cooler chat) and reduce stress levels.

The study also suggested that watching comedies helped people to feel more relaxed, but current affairs shows increased anxiety. A group of psychologists studied TV viewing habits for Virgin Media and concluded that viewers’ diet of programmes should be balanced just like food.
