Cheryl Fergison and Julie Goodyear were the first housemates to enter into the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight and no sooner had they welcomed each other and shared a bit of a hug than they were summoned to the diary room.

When they entered the infamous space and sat on what beefy Cheryl slammed as a ‘much too small’ chair, BB informed the ladies that he wanted them to embark on a secret soapy mission!

Of course, the women are both best known for their roles in two of Britain’s favourite soap operas, Cheryl played Heather Trott on Eastenders and Julie was the infamous Bet Gilroy on Coronation Street.

After a bit of a pa-lava over spikey ear pieces, they stars were told that when they hear their soap theme tunes being quietly played, they have to act up and pretend they are in the middle of a dramatic soap storyline.

They could enact tears, tantrums and meltdowns but no one must guess why.

The actresses were informed that if the rest of their housemates guessed they were on a mission, they would fail and lose out on a big reward. However, if they passed, the whole group would be treated to a surprise reward!
