Celebrity Big Brother 2012: Jasmine Lennard and her mother Marilyn – Well, that was ugly and brutal wasn’t it? Especially for Danica and Sam
In last night’s Celebrity Big Brother highlights show, we got to see more of the footage from Saturday’s events, which of course saw evicted housemate Jasmine Lennard return to the house with her mother Marilyn Galsworthy to carry out a secret mission entitled – aptly as it transpires – Like Mother Like Daughter.
The aim of the task was for Marilyn to convince the housemates that she was a celeb psychic called Shelley, but she failed to do so somewhat spectacularly, and in fact, she couldn’t even convince most of them that she’s a woman.
However, what could’ve been a fun task and secret mission was turned ugly and sour by vitriol and malice as Jasmine – and vicariously, her mother – is still clearly obsessing about Danica Thrall.
And why? What was it that made her hate Danica soooooo much?
She nominated her. That’s it…
And for that, she’s been subjected to vile abuse from Jasmine, and now her mother too, including being called a “whore”, “evil” and a “prostitute”.
One of the things that really grinds my gears over this whole Moral High Ground issue with Jasmine is that before she left the house, when she apologised to Danica for having called her “a little prostitute” and for saying, “Aren’t your parents ashamed of you?” Jasmine said that she’d “considered going there” herself at one time.
The implication being that at what Jasmine described as “a dark place” in her life, she considered – in some form – exchanging her time or favours in return for some kind of payment. Jasmine added that her mother talked her out of it, and Jasmine’s apology to Danica became emotional when she duly noted that as Danica’s mum had died, she hadn’t had the luxury of having a mum around to talk her out of anything.
So, we might therefore take it that Jasmine doesn’t find the idea of swapping some form of favour in return for money entirely abhorrent if she gave it so much thought that she got to the stage where she needed to discuss it with her mum.
And what if her mother hadn’t talked her out of it?
I personally don’t believe that what Danica does warrants her being labeled with such emotive, divisive and downright insulting words such as whore and prostitute. And frankly, even if she did sell sex for money, what the hell does it have to do with anyone else what she does or doesn’t do?
I have to say, if I was told I was to be shipwrecked on a desert island and could choose either a ‘whore’ or Jasmine Lennard and her mum as companions, I’d choose the ‘whore’ without a moment’s hesitation.
But of course, the nasty taste in the mouth from Marilyn’s foray into the house didn’t end there, because in the name of “fun”, she tried to convince Samantha that she had a spirit world message from her dog.
Now unless you’re a soppy pet owner – like me – you might find it hard to understand that something of that nature can hit hard and deep, because for some of us, our pets are like family, and we mourn their passing.
So to be tricked in that manner was particularly cruel.
Frankly, I was very disappointed in Marilyn. I thought she had more dignity than that – as she seemed to have during her brief F&F chat with Brian on Jasmine’s eviction night – but clearly not.
That old adage involving apples not falling far from trees very much springs to mind after this weekend’s display of cold, calculating cruelty and viciousness.
What did you think of the Like Mother Like Daughter task?

I agree with the above – what a nasty pair; both are old enough to know better. I felt uncomfortable when Marilyn, guided by Jasmine was trying to persuade Danica to be alone with her. Bear in mind that Danica has lost her mother, and even if she actually believed that ‘Shelley’ was a psychic medium, would she have expected a ‘message’ from her deceased parent. Vile behaviour, made even worse by both women appearing to enjoy the hurt they were causing.
I have to say, though, judos to Dani for having he fortitude to avoid the abuse that Marilyn and Jasmine would have laid on had she agreed to talk to her privately. I was SOO pleased with how strongly she refused to be led into it.
kudos, even.
Well, the poison apple didn’t fall far from the twisted tree did it? What a odious pair. No wonder the skeletal Jasmine is so hateful with that old b**** for a mother. Cruel, cheap, creepy. They belong in a cottage in the woods making potions and cackling over a cauldron.
If I were Danica I’d take them through the courts for what they said. It’s just not acceptable to say things like that in front of thousands of people. I’m not fond of Danica and the way she behaves but calling her a prostitute and a whore is a step too far.
The whole ‘Shelley’ debacle was apparently an attempt to boost ratings, but if so it backfired disastrously – it just made Marilyn Galsworthy look ridiculous, with her daughter becoming even more of a hate figure – payback occurred however when some of the housemates not only refused to be drawn into the ruse but even queried the ‘psychic’s ‘ gender! Ouch! How do you come back from that? The reunion/wrap party could be somewhat awkward.
Jasmine hates Danica because she’s jealous of her. Danica’s genuinely beautiful and is able to get on with people. Poor Jasmine looks like something that drops from the ceiling in a ghost train, and lacks the most basic of social skills.
Jasmine needs to be in a place where they try and help people with twisted minds, poor ,poor woman. Her man looking mother is not at all nice in anyway, she is viscous and calculating, no wonder poor Jasmine is the way she is!!!!. Jasmin needs to eat properly, she is indeed skeletol, and, that often shows a sick mind and body!!. Danika is not nice either, but, is not downright evil or sick in the mind, just a user of men, as her looks fail, she will learn, maybe??!!!!!!. I hope that Jasmin does get help, as, she truly needs to be told how to be a nice person, hopefully deep down ,she is???.
