Celebrity Big Brother 2012: The Rhian bashing continues; I’m so disappointed in Harvey & Martin but I expected it from Julie

As part of this week’s shopping task – which is entitled Gods and MortalsJulie Goodyear and Martin Kemp were elected to be ‘Gods’, while the other housemates became ‘Mortals’.

However Martin and Julie can choose Mortal housemates to join them in their heavenly surrounds – which is actually the large task room – where they are all seeing and all knowing, thanks to a TV screen and headphones.

And yesterday, after bringing Harvey into the heavenly room, Martin, Julie and Harvey all watched footage from the house, which, at one stage, featured Ashley talking to Rhian, and once again, the Rhian bashing started up.

Unfortunately, I can’t embed the clip but you can click here to watch it in another window.

I’m sure I don’t need to go over the history of this as CBB fans are I’m sure up to speed with it, but as with Mike and Danica, between Ashley and Rhian, the whole thing boils down to unrequited ‘love’ – or maybe that should read ‘lust’ – and a battered ego…

Now of course, we’ve seen that Julie – as Bet Lynch might say – has more faces than a town hall clock, and chameleon-like, she’ll change her opinion and affections depending upon whom she’s talking to.

When she spoke to Danica about the situation with The Situation, she told her Mike was being “silly” and that he was just fed up that he couldn’t have her. To Mike, Julie conspiratorially asked, “Tell me yes or no; do you think you’re being played?”

She of course asked that question on nominations day, and subsequently she nominated Danica after Mike’s answer was, “Yes”.

Similarly, while comforting Rhian recently when she was upset over Ashley’s behaviour towards her, Julie said pretty much the same things that she’d said to Danica, telling Rhian, “It’s not your problem, it’s his. It’s not your fault that you don’t fancy him.”

But of course to Ashley, Julie has warned that he needs to “leave that alone” and not to fall into Rhian’s “trap.”

And again, as you will have seen in the clip above, because Martin and Harvey were having a constant go at Rhian, Julie joined in.

Now, having seen Julie’s behaviour throughout, I expect nothing else from her now. She’ll say and do whatever it takes to stay to the end, but I am genuinely disappointed in Harvey and Martin…

Again, in the clip, Martin remarked on how Rhian was “lying suggestively” which apparently isn’t “fair” on Ashley.

I’m astounded that these people can’t hear themselves and the implication of what they’re saying! The subtext is, as far I’m concerned, this – if a woman rejects you, treat her with disdain. And if she doesn’t act humbly around you, and if she’s not ashamed that she’s rejected you, you’re quite within your rights to assume she’s torturing you on purpose.

This is how stalkers are spawned; men or women who are furious that someone has had the audacity to reject them and carry on their lives as if nothing happened while the rejected party is wounded and has hurt pride.

And what sort of a message might this whole thing send to young girls watching? Don’t dare to ever reject a bloke because you’ll become a social pariah, disliked by pretty much everybody?!

As I went on – and on and on – about in this article, it isn’t a woman’s – in this case, Rhian’s – fault if by the fact of lying on the floor, a man takes that as being a come on. It’s his take on her lying on the floor and what it sparks in his mind!

Why should Rhian have to guess what any man’s thinking about what she does? Or behave differently because of it? Or have to wander about being über careful where she sits, lies, what she wears etc., etc., just in case it makes Ashley fancy her more? It’s not her problem – it’s HIS!

His ego can’t cope with rejection, but tough luck.

I’m just very disappointed that Martin and Harvey, who were my favourite housemates this year, are being so Neanderthal in evidently believing that Rhian should be apologetic 24/7 for not fancying Ashley when he’s revealed he fancies her.

It’s a repeat performance of the Danica-Sitch debacle, and of that, one of our readers, Daisy, commented, “I’m confused, I thought women were allowed to dress how they wanted these days?

“Do people want her to stop wearing make up as well?

“Maybe she should gain a bit of weight, then Lorenzo and The Sitch would REALLY feel better!

“And she will have lost all say over how she looks, but at least the MEN will feel better. Great.”

That sums it all up for me.

What’re your thoughts on how Martin, Harvey and Julie have ganged up on Rhian – well, I consider they have – over Ashley’s hurt feelings?

I like Rhiane, I hope she does not go!!.I too have a beautiful daughter, and all she gets from men and women is trouble. Unlike evil Jasmine, my daughter is kind hearted, and , never bitches about other people, but, is confused to the reasons of pure nastiness???.
I hope Julian wins, as, over the years, he has made me laugh, and, that is a great Gift!!!. Love his dogs as well!!!
