Celebrity Big Brother 2014: Evander Holyfield apologises for homophobic remarks
Evander Holyfield has issued an apology over comments he made inside the Celebrity Big Brother house last week.
The boxing star caused quite a furore in the outside world when he implied that being gay is ‘not normal’ and something that could be fixed. He claimed that homosexuals make ‘a choice’ and define their own sexuality.
Evander was evicted from the CBB house yesterday, not by the public but by Lee Ryan and Casey Batchelor and speaking at a press conference last night he apologised for his remarks saying:
“I haven’t got the opportunity to make an apology yet, but I guess with me in that situation, I kind of felt I was talking to one person.”
“I was telling one person my view. I do owe an apology for what I said because I really wasn’t talking and really wasn’t trying to talk about somebody, because I don’t talk about nobody.”
Evander made the comments to Luisa Zissman during a late night chat. He said he forgot all about the cameras and added:
“She asked me something and I thought I was sharing with her my view personally, and I forgot about everything. So I am going to make a public apology about that because I am sorry for anybody I offended in that situation.”
Meanwhile it has been revealed that Big Brother bosses stepped in to calm the waters between Dappy and Luisa Zissman last night.
The pair became involved in a heated row after Dappy claimed that a man could sleep with five women a night but if a woman did the same she was nothing more than a ‘wh**e.’
The argument continued for hours and will be aired on tonight’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother.
