Today is a very important day in the history of the United States of America. At 5pm British time Barack Obama will be sworn in as the first ever black president of the United States of America.

In honour of this auspicious occasion, for this week’s shopping task Housemates will celebrate all things American.

The task will consist of 4 challenges:

THE RODEO CHALLENGE

Ben and La Toya will become cowboys and must learn to ride the bucking bronco.

THE BASEBALL CHALLENGE

Tommy will become a baseball star and must hit balls pitched into the Garden by Big Brother

THE PIE EATING CONTEST

Terry and Ulrika will become competitive eaters and must take part in a pie eating competition.

THE BIG BROTHER ROUTE 66

Coolio and Verne will become American bikers and must complete a road trip along the legendary Route 66.

If Housemates successfully pass 3 of the 4 challenges they will pass the overall shopping task and receive a luxury shopping budget of £5 per head per day.

If Housemates fail 2 or more challenges they will fail the overall shopping task and receive a basic shopping budget of £1 per head per day.
