Celebrity Big Brother: Jo O’Meara Finally Apologises!

Jo O'Meara - Celebrity Big BrotherFormer S Club 7 singer O’Meara has issued a 900-word statement apologising for her behaviour in the Big Brother house.

“I have been asked why I did Big Brother. It was simply because I needed the money,” she said.

“I may lose my house and the fee offered was a lifeline which I took.”

She said that she had been issued with death threats and was too scared to go home.

“Am I the first person in the world to make a mistake or say regrettable things? I am devastated, sorry and honestly have no idea what to do next,” she said.

“I honestly believe that I was not a horrible person every day throughout the series”

Jo also blames Big Brother producers for manipulating situations inside the house.

“I think that as a group we would all have coped better if some of the surprise stunts hadn’t been pulled by Big Brother.

“Jade and her family entering the house late and the introduction of a slave/master culture is bizarre by anyone’s standards and automatically creates tension and a divide.”

Well it wasn’t much of an apology, but better late than never I suppose!

I dont think Jo should apologise, as she did what she believed was right , so you cant apologise for being yourself.

I will keep saying this, if she feels that there was editing and manipulation of the real JO.

    Give endemol back their money.

When you stick a £50,000 cheque close to your nose it blocks out everything else and all you see is money.

Life is a pile of crap and you cannot have your cheque, spend it and complain about the person who gave it to you.

If it is down to the producers and their manipulation well their money is as equally dirty as their tactics. So who wants “evil” money apart from “evil” people.

No-one would thank her for giving the cheque back, but least she wont live feeling sordid and wicked.
As she is spending the money of people who supposedly tried to ruin her life.

PS Jo, I had death threats after Big Brother , as I was accused of not playing fairly (HA bleeding HA), people rarely carry them out as those who threaten to kill you
tend to be simple witted lunatics who dont even know what day it is never mind, who you are.

I have a feeling most of mine were from the Big Brother
    producers anyway.

Most of the British public would have behaved in the exactly the same way as JO placed in the same position

There would have been a few who would have objected and taken offence. But most people would have found Jade’s behaviour a joke and possibly behaved worst than Jo.

The only sad thing about this incident is that people are being hypocritical and wanting Jo to apologise, when they would have been far worse.

PS: Phil Edgar Jones, I’m not JO and I will say yet again, give me back my material YOU Big Skanker.

Jo, is clever and I like her for that. From what I have seen of her she is very strong and stands by her belief. That explains why she released a 900 word essay (according to me not a statement) of her treatment, feelings and reactions so that the media can decipher the apology from that. In fact she has achieved both. Stood by her words and maintained her dignity. At the same time apologising without having the need to do it like Danielle or Jade.

I think she has been true to herself and her first step towards the media bully has really worked for her. I wish her good luck and hope she is able to launch her career again with great success.

She is no better than Jade or Danielle she deserves everything she gets - fancy saying her family would be proud of her bitching - I think not!!!

  5. Evelyn Lewis Says:

In fairness to Jo she called on BB, talking into her mike, to intervene the moment she saw the chicken cube episode was getting out of hand. Did BB intervene? No.
She also spoke to Dani, when both sober, about calling Shilpa a dog and said it was wrong. The press have been hard on her and Danielle for giggling during the fight and they both explained it was nervous giggling, which Daniel did again during her interview with Davina and was made out to be sniggering, by the press.
The girls have been bullied more than they have bullied and been exploited. Jade’s loss of temper was awful but she has apologised and is getting anger treatment and is in rehab, what more do the public want? It is time for us all to move on and wish these girls well as they try to draw together the tattered pieces of their lives.

Jo’s statement is not so much an apology as a bunch of reasons excuses and justifications for her actions. She is not taking reponsibility. You would have more respect if she just held her hands up and said I guess I need to look at myself and make changes like Danielle did in her post eviction interview. Blaming everyone else is just poor me Im hard done by behaviour. Sometimes acceptance of your faults and a bit of humility is the way forward. Blame wont change Jo or anybodys opinion of what she, not anybody else, did and said.

  7. Evelyn Lewis Says:

On GMTV Jo said she apologised if she offended anyone.

  8. ROD BELL Says:

Look, this would all be more understandable if it was trhe ordinary BB and not CBB, Jo ,Jade etc have been well in the limelight ,they know how to use cameras, if as she said she was aware of no matter where she was a camera was there then she should have brought performing skills and public relation skills into effect tHAT she MUST have learned in her S CLUB years and made sure the image she wanted to project was, she was caught out and doesn’t like what she sees herself,In other words ITS HER FAULT, she bullied, ridiculed and supported the worst of the bullying by her action and inaction. FACT. Rod.

  9. dawn blake Says:

Jo would have been unlikely to to have written the apology , it would have come from her legal and PR management, which she would have employed since Sclub7. If she was genuinely sorry she would have been so in the house and simply requested the unedited material herself to prove her remorse. So I doubt she was remorseful at all.

The only people who have requested footage from BB have been the police and Channel 4 has not happily volunteered the info and are asking the police to get a court order. GOOD LUCK POLICE !

Anyone rich and high profile enough could ask a PR person to write a statement, to justify an unfortunate event. Your actions with others speak louder than words after the event. As these are someone elses.

Narcissistic people will do anything to be loved, treated more favourably, idolised and worshipped and get to the top. They will always want to be on the winning team and the top of that team. Apologies from such people written by others after the events are not worth the paper they are written on.

However Jo is not the worst person in the UK or the most racist. People seem to have focussed on her because the SUN newspaper has told them to.

If they did a U-turn and started slating Shilpa and glorifying Jo, no doubt people would follow suit.

The Sun Newspaper, the daily mirror or the Star really have no right to call anyone bullies as each week there are ordinary people who have complaints upheld against these news papers via the Press complaints commission or the courts.

They print stories because they sell newspapers and demonising Jo, for behaviour that the journalists themselves would have done (worse) only shifts their papers to people who have decided not to think for themselves.

If you were to re-analyse past Big Brothers in this way. People the press and public have of made into heroes would actually have committed suicide as they have been harsher than Jo. So I do believe this press reaction is bordering on psychotic unfounded mass hysteria.

That is the real immoral issue here. No-one is also taking the producers to task for allowing this to take race row to take place. It is not as though they did not have enough warnings from former psychologists and contestants.

Professor Wilson left after two weeks in BB5 as he said the show was evil and people involved were unethical, which they are.

Jo is only a small fish in a Big, Big Lake. Folks you are indeed a coward if you are focussing all your attention and hate on one individual and not the show or organisation in general. As the producers could have stopped the show at anytime.

People are also forgetting Kevin Lythgoe from Channel Four said the “Race ROW” , made good TV, so I think there is some misplaced hatred here, which renders a section of the people (press and public) complaining about JO ignorant, easily manipulated, thuglike, clan like, obtuse, myopic, cowardly and therefore far worse than the woman herself.

  11. dawn blake Says:

When Saskia left the BB house she refered to the black contestants as “MONKIES”, and no-one said anything they just accepted it must be true as she was referring to the likes of makosi, science etc.

So public outpouring of grief is not even consistant.

The Sun had children holding up signs of racists names they were called.

An Asian Boy held up the sign “PAKI”, as if we would be disgusted , but the Sun loved Shabbaz the mentally ill “paki”nt stating he would be missed by the housemates, when he broke down and how mad he was ha, ha. Who could side with such hypocrisy. How many asian and black journalists do they employ eh?

The argument against Jade and gang cannot be taken seriously, because a tabloids that have plenty of race issues themselves wants to shift copies of newspapers at Jo’s expense.

In Big Brother 7 I heard more racist issults than what fell out of Jo’s mouth. I dont like bigots and I dont stick up for them, but I am not a hypocrite and I call it as I see it. And Big Brother 6 was appalling for racism, that was the stuff they did show.

  12. Noz Says:

    All should listen to Dawn,
Shes talkin good sense, Tabloids are keeping this
going, its time to leave Jo alone, after watching her
on BB I believe she woz very nervous, uncomfortable?
Accept her reasons 4 doing the show, her personal
life is hers, and not our business. The Gutter Press
have made her ILL over this….LEAVE her alone
Wait till the next Celeb BB.. Someone else will get
it 4 whatever reason ( Watch this space) It sells
the Rags you read eh? Jo is Topps, back off and leave
her alone to get on wi her life
    Noz

  13. Helen Says:

The three of them - JO, Jade and Danielle are now trying to twist things, get out of an impossible situation, they all knew exactly what they were saying and doing in that house. How anyone can defend them is beyond me. Yes there have been other situations in the past (and on this series) but this argument was far the worst. ALL of them are nothing more than selfish, spoilt, ignorant small minded bullies!!
