Celebrity Big Brother housemate Lady Sovereign once broke down on stage and told her audience how skint she was and how close she was coming to being homeless.

Sov was performing in New York in 2007 and was two songs into her gig when she started ranting:

“I’m sorry, you know, but I have to do this for the money. I’m so broke right now it’s disgusting. I’m just about paying my rent – I’m homeless in about two months, I swear.

“You wouldn’t understand. I’ve just come out of depression, yeah. It’s America. America f***s you up. F*** America. I’m being serious.

“I said I didn’t want to do this show tonight. I don’t mean any harm to anyone. This is so painful to do this. I’m, like, shaking, I swear. You wouldn’t understand, that’s all I’m saying.”

At the time of the show Lady Sovereign had already been signed by Jay Z’s record label and released her first (and to date only) album. She has enjoyed very little chart success since that album but hopes to make a comeback after appearing on Channel 4′s premiere reality TV show.
