Fans of Celebrity Big Brother will no doubt recall that Shameless star Tina Malone made a formidable housemate when she took part in the show in 2009…
However, since then, Tina’s become (almost) half the woman she was as she’s shed a whopping 10 stone!
The big change came about after Tina wed her 30 year old toy boy Paul Chase, and the couple decided to try for a baby, even though Tina’s 50 years old.
The couple are now about to being having IVF treatment in order to make their dreams of having a baby come true, and despite her age, Tina reckons she’s raring to go!
Speaking to the Mirror, Tina said, “It’s a really exciting time for us. We are going to start IVF and see what happens. I am serious about it.
“I’ve been told there’s an 88% chance of conceiving, which is great, and I’m not in the slightest bit worried about it or the prospect of being an older mum.
“I’m doing it for me and my husband and no one else. This isn’t something you do on a whim.
“Everything has its pros and cons and yes, there are hazards but that’s life, there are always going to be things you can’t predict.”
The paper adds, “Keen to explore issues of older motherhood, Tina, who already has a 31-year-old daughter Dannielle, is set to appear on ITV1’s This Morning as part of their Fertility Week discussions.”
Tina explained, “It’s becoming more and more normal, isn’t it?
“I think the Government should be doing everything they can to support older mums, who have been educated and had careers.”
She added, “Yes, there has to be a cut-off point somewhere but 40 is the new 30 so I don’t see a problem with someone at 41 or 42 getting help.
“I’m 50 so I have to go private and of course I should, that’s fair enough.
“I always do things in an extreme way. I was a really young mum at 18 and now I’ll be an old one. It will be a different experience.
“I always think that in your 20s you’re trying to get a man, in your 30s, you’re trying to get rid of the man and in my 40s, I found the right man.
“It took me until I was 46 to find my soulmate. And if a baby does come along I’ll manage the same as anybody else.
“And I won’t mind at all getting up with a baby, doing the feeds, changing the nappies, I’m ready for all that.”
And of her dramatic weight loss, Tina revealed that it’s thanks to having had a gastric band fitted and avoiding booze.
She said, “I’m 8st 8lbs now – 10 years ago I was 19st 2lbs. I got to a size eight in May but had my band loosened because my husband was getting a cob on, he didn’t like it, so I’m a size 10 now.”
Tina added, “I’ve been sober for 15 years on February 14 and thank God.
“I never drank to take the edge off or to have a personality, I drank, ¬unfortunately, because I f*****g loved it. That was my problem.
“Whether it’s work, food, sex, I do it to excess – so I don’t drink now.”
