Earlier this week, it was reported that former Celebrity Big Brother winner Alex Reid had been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage at the home he shared with his girlfriend Chantelle Houghton.

The police were called in the early hours of the morning after neighbours reported that they’d heard Alex screaming “Let me in, f*****g let me in” during the 1.30am row.

He apparently later told police that he had simply lost his temper on discovering that Chantelle – who also of course starred in Celebrity Big Brother – had locked him out of the house.

The couple, who have a baby daughter called Dolly, have had always had a turbulent relationship which has seen them part and reunite several times…

However, last night, Chantelle took to Twitter to say, “Unfortunately I have had no option but to end my relationship with Alex.”

Apparently, on the night that Alex was arrested, Chantelle had told friends that she thought Alex was at his mum’s house, and was therefore left “fearing for her life” when she heard someone trying to get into the locked house.

A friend of Chantelle’s told the Daily Record, “She was utterly terrified and thought someone was breaking in. She’s been really shaken up by it.”

Following his arrest, Alex was released without charge at 2.30pm. Police confirmed no further action is being taken.
