Katie Price did not get everything she wished for this Christmas, as Channel 5 bosses have declined her pleas to take part in January’s new series of Celebrity Big Brother!
Katie, whose ex-husband, Alex Reid, won the show when he took part a few years ago, had been rumoured to be taking part in the hugely popular reality show as soon as the new series was confirmed.
However, whilst bosses remained tight-lipped about the New Year line up, Katie took to social networking site, twitter, to make sure that the powers that be knew that she was definitely interested in taking part by tweeting: “I’m not doing big brother despite the rumours! But I wouldn’t say no hahahaha I have nothing to hide :)”
However, despite this suggestion, the powers that be decided they didn’t want Katie in January, but have, instead, offered her a consolation prize to take part in the summer edition of the show!
A source commented to the daily Mirror: “Katie has always been at the top of the list of potential CBB housemates and she was a real candidate this series because her deal with Sky is up.
“Her exes Alex Reid and Dane Bowers were in one series together, and it made a great talking point – Alex even won the show.
“But, of course, she was going to be an expensive booking.”
“The idea of having Katie and Rylan seemed perfect. They promised late night karaoke sessions and lots of boozy antics.
“But the bosses had a re-think. They felt that their personalities were so similar, they might risk becoming a turn-off for viewers.
“They decided that only one of them could make the final line-up – so they chose Rylan off the back of his popularity on X Factor.
“Katie has been invited to take part in the summer edition.”
Meanwhile, another expected contestant, former The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright, has added fuel to the rumour that she is entering the house.
Lydia quit the hugely popular ITV2 reality show during this year’s Christmas special because she could no longer bare to be near her ex, James Argent, stating at the time: “I just don’t think I can go on with Arg there there there. I hate hate the boy so much and I just need to get away.
“And in time I can come back and spend time with my friends again.”
Then later tweeted: “End of an era, thank you everyone for supporting me on TOWIE”
However, when discussing her future plans, Bright – who has her own boutique in Essex, revealed that she would like to continue with her “TV Carer”.
She said: “Hopefully TV and fashion can go hand-in-hand and I can have my TV career and continue to develop my fashion brand.
“I’m passionate about two things that I think can work well together.”
Then later she took to social networking site, twitter to reveal: “I’ve had meetings about new projects.”
The new series of Celebrity Big Brother is due to start next month on Channel 5/ Channel 5 HD.
