The Mirror is reporting that Sir Patrick Moore has become the latest star to sign up for next months Celebrity Big Brother series.

Moore, 85, has presented the astronomy programme ‘Sky At Night’ since 1957, written more than 70 books and had an asteroid named in his honour in 1982.

A show insider said: “There will be medics on standby, keeping a careful eye on Patrick. He’s very spry but has arthritis and needs sticks to get around. The bosses are delighted… he’s a national treasure and they’re banking on some great television.”

Moore may well be a replacement for Sir Cliff Richard who is rumoured to have pulled out of the show after being refused his own private loo.

I think Sir Patrick would be a great addition to this years Big Brother, but I would worry that show bosses or fellow housemates wouldn’t treat him with the respect he deserves.

Sir Patrick is an elderly and dignified man, I wouldn’t want to see him made a fool of on national TV!

it would be a shame to see, if they make him look daft which the makers of those programs often like to do, i hope thats not the case, if he can be a sesible figure peopkle respect on the show then thats fair enough
