Why I LOVE Celebrity Big Brother

Yippee it’s back! Celebrity Big Brother returns to our screens on the 2nd at 9pm on Channel 4 and I cannot wait! We will be in the infamous house next Tuesday so pop in on Wednesday for our very own video tour!

I love to watch celebrities making total t*ts of themselves on television, and I love to see glamorous women sans make-up and heart throb blokes falling out of bed and farting when the alarm goes off. It’s a voyeur’s paradise this show; it’s a bit like watching animals in the wild isn’t it?

Before the show starts there’s a special Why I Love Celebrity Big Brother on E4, 30th December at 9pm in which ex-housemates, celebrities and journalists ‘celebrate and talk frankly’ about the past five series of Celebrity Big Brother.

I’m sure the whole racism row will be discussed but I’m very glad that it didn’t cause the total cancellation of the show because at the end of the day, Celeb BB is simply a chance for us viewers to gawp at public figures in the raw as it were, and that’s how it’s meant to be. It shouldn’t be political or social commentary; it shouldn’t be anything but great entertainment from which charities will benefit, and fingers crossed, that’s what we’ll get back to this year.

There’ve been lots of great moments over the years and great celebrities. One of the celebs I loved to hate was Pete Burns. I can’t stand the man but I have to admit that his acerbic wit and extreme sarcasm was very funny at times when he was in the house. Here’s a clip of some of his most cutting one-liners about his fellow housemates.

It’s also very amusing to watch the celebrities being made to take part in tasks and so on during which they must make themselves look totally stupid which can often be a watch-from-behind-your-hands moment. One such cringe making moment was of course George Galloway pretending to be a cat while Rula Lenska petted him. Oh it makes me shudder still. Here it is…

And who could forget the hideousness that was Jackie Stallone! Remember when she walked in and said “Yeah, Drackie” because her many cosmetic surgeries won’t allow her to speak properly? Here it is again, in case you were on Mars and missed it.

I suspect this year’s show will be one of the best yet because Endemol and Channel 4 will be wanting to make up for the last disastrous outing so I’d bet they’ve got lots of shocks, twists and surprises up their sleeves for this year’s housemates. Bring it on!
