DanceX: Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli Hunting For Dancers And Singers
Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli are strutting back on to our screens in brand new show, DanceX on BBC One.
The acclaimed choreographers are leaving their Strictly Come Dancing sequins at home and upping the funk factor as they go head to head in search of the next big thing to take the UK dance scene by storm.
They are scouring the country for top notch male and female performers for the programme, which will see the very best dancers and singers win a place in a brand new group.
Leaving no stone unturned, the dance duo are transforming town squares into make-shift dance floors and raiding venues from church halls to nightclubs in their hunt for the country’s coolest dance floor divas and sassiest songsters.
From breakdancing to body-popping, hip hop grooves to fusion funk, contestants must prove they’ve got what it takes to be part of the next big thing.
Thirty years after Arlene’s sexy troupe Hot Gossip revolutionised dance on TV, she and Bruno are hoping the country’s most talented hot–trotters will sashay down to auditions for their latest project.
Arlene says: “We’re looking for the coolest, hippest dancers and singers, who have the drive and ambition to make it big and be part of the most exciting new group of the 21st century.”
Arlene and Bruno put their reputations on the line and go head-to-head as they take two teams of finalists under their wings. Each week, the hopefuls strut their stuff with the latest dance moves and show off their vocal talent in the hope that they won’t be put up for elimination.

=D Two friends of mine and I would be totally interested and up for this! But, the only problem is we are not sure where in London the dance audidtions take place. Could anyone help please?>!
Went to We will Rock you on 29th May. Last 20 did exhibition for us and audience had to vote which were best. Arlene and Bruno there with a load of BBC wonks filming it.
Hey, I heard that Ben Shepherd left X-Factor and will be presenting on Dance-X - Is that true? And is Joshua Alamu (the guy from Musicool) signed up as one of the trainers? He’s a voice trainer - hows that going to help in a Dance show? I know there are singers too - but isn’t it more, as the name suggests, a DANCE search? Not sure it was such a good move for Ben though, but ho-hum, it would be good to see him on our screens again regardless.
The show is a DANCE show AND a singing competition - hence it is searching for the next BAND like Gossip. I’m not sure if Joshua Alamu is signed up to the show (where do you get your information?) But in answer to your question, he is a celebrity vocal coach and worked on Just the Two of Us and Pop Idols prior to Musicool, perhaps that’s why he might be able to help . . .
Looks Like Joshua Alamu IS signed up to DanceX . . . BBC reported it on their Strictly Come Dancing Page with Arlene Philips!!
