Dancing on Ice returns to our screens in the New Year for its final run, and things are already hotting up on the ice as it’s been reported that soap stars Hayley Tamaddon and Jorgie Porter are both determined to win, and are pulling out all the stops in training.
Hayley – who’s currently starring in Coronation Street but who formerly appeared in Emmerdale – of course has the edge, given she won Dancing on Ice in 2010, however, Hollyoaks star Jorgie came second last year, and so is keen to go one better in the show’s grand finale.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Hayley said, “To be crowned champion again would be an amazing achievement.”
Jorgie added, “I really am going to go for it.”
A show insider remarked, “There’ll be war on the ice as they try to impress judges and mentors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean,” and of all the returning former champs, the source added, “It’s clear this lot will be the most competitive bunch we’ve had…
“Many have won before and are not ready to lose.
“It means they’re doing moves now that fans wouldn’t usually see until later in the series.”
However, it seems that comedian Joe Pasquale is struggling already as the insider said, “He fell over a few times during his routine…
“He knows that he’s never going to be able to compete with the champions. He just wants to put a smile on people’s faces.”
EastEnders actor Gary Lucy will also star in the new series, as will former Doctor Who star Bonnie Langford, ex-England goalkeeper David Seaman and former Brookside actor and X Factor star, Ray Quinn.
Dancing on Ice returns 5 January 2014, at 6.15pm on ITV. Here’s a look at the show…
