Dancing on Ice 2014: David Seaman and Frankie Poultney are set to wed next year!
Over the years, Dancing on Ice has been the setting for a number of new romances, and as fans will recall, one of the most controversial of which was that between Coronation Street star Samia Ghadie and pro-skater Sylvain Longchambon…
However, fans of the show – which is ending after the forthcoming series – will also recall that footballer David Seaman left his wife and children for pro-skater Frankie Poultney, who he of course met while competing on Dancing on Ice.
Though David took part in the show in 2006, and Frankie didn’t join the show’s team until a year later, they trained together for the show’s five-week live tour which kicked off in April 2008.
They fell in love, and, though David was said to be “shattered” by making the decision to leave his family to be with Frankie, the couple are now, as mentioned above, engaged to be married.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, David said, “It’s going to be extra special when this series starts.
“We’re engaged now, and if it wasn’t for the show, I may not have met Frankie.
“It’s nice to be able to dance together.”
The paper adds, “In 1994, Seaman ended his first marriage to Sandra – mother of his two eldest children – after confessing to an affair with Miss Rogers, who was a receptionist at Arsenal.
“He wed Miss Rogers in July 1998 and they had two children before their divorce in 2009.”
Dancing on Ice returns to ITV early in the New Year, but for now, here’s a reminder of David’s previous run on the show…
