Dancing On Ice 2014: Hayley Tamaddon & Dan Whiston impress with Call Me Maybe
Hayley Tamaddon made her big return to Dancing On Ice this evening and what a return it was!
The former Emmerdale (now Coronation Street) star of course has already won the series once before, back in 2010, but tonight she returned for the final run.
Torvill and Dean announced their intention to leave the show last year, after which ITV confirmed it’s cancellation following the current all star run. Hayley joins 13 other former winners, finalists and fan favourites who will now compete to be crowned the ultimate champion.
While some of the stars changed partners this time round, Hayley was lucky enough to remain paired with her childhood pal Dan Whiston who has a massive following of his own outside the skating show.
She tweeted her fans after yesterday’s final rehearsal and said:
“Just finished skating with @TheDanWhiston and we are ready and raring to go tomorrow! Thankyou all so much in advance for your support! Xxx”
After the pair were inundated with messages of good luck from their fans this afternoon, Dan replied:
“Your support is ammmmaaazzzinnng! So many messages … THANK YOU xxxx”
In her VT Hayley revealed that she was ‘thrilled’ to be back with Dan on the ice, though she admitted:
“Me and Dan can act like a married couple on the ice sometimes. The pressure is definitely on this time around.”
“I am a little bit older and nothing is as flexible.”
“Can you imagine the last ever person to win the last ever series of Dancing On Ice? It would just be a dream!”
Tonight Hayley and Dan started off by a phone box and performed to Call Me Maybe as they opened the star studded show. If this is how all the first routines are going to be, then the standard this series is going to be fairly spectacular we’d predict.
Ashley Roberts: Watch your arms a little bit, they got a little sloppy. Such a great way to start off the show.
Karen Barber: What a great start and a great team. You are tight out there, you are polished. A few scratchy in places but we will work that out.
Jason Gardiner: There is no questions this is one of my favourite partnerships of all time. However, this is the final and we are looking for the ultimate champion. Hayley I know you can do better than that. You are very focussed on being perfect and I want you to find a nice balance between letting yourself go and being controlled.
Robin Cousins: You want to kick it off with a bang and Hayley you never disappoint us. Some lovely lifts but a few little scratchy transitions but a great way to start.
