Ray Quinn returned to the rink on tonight’s Dancing On Ice show, determined to shine in the last ever semi final of the show!
The series won’t be back for 2015, so tonight will see the last ever flying routines too, which is a bit of a tear jerker, we have to admit!
Quinn can’t quite believe it’s gone so fast and tweeted his fans tonight saying:
“Thank you all so much for your good luck tweets an all your support and encouragement. I love you all. Couldn’t do it without you! #DOI”
For his first routine tonight Ray and Maria showcased their flying skills and on what she wanted to see on the rink Jayne Torvill said:
“We are looking for beautiful lines in the air, smooth transitions and some lovely skating.”
However before performing Ray admitted that he was struggling. He said:
“I hate flying, I hate it. I feel like s**t. I had to stop for a minute because my head was spinning.”
“I found it really frustrating in that harness. I don’t know how I am going to do this.”
“I am a bit worried that this will be the one I won’t be able to do.”
Ray managed to pull off the high wire routine, his landings were fantastic and his time on the ice was wonderful. However, we definitely weren’t as moved by Quinn’s efforts as we were by Hayley Tamaddon’s routine a few minutes before.
The judges weren’t as impressed as they have been previously and instead of a perfect 40, Ray came in at 37 tonight.
ASHLEY ROBERTS: U thought you were Peter Pan up there, I loved it. The transitions you had from the ice to the lifting were beautiful.
JASON GARDINER: For a guy you present yourself beautifully in the air, sadly I was not moved by that performance. Normally you make me feel something. Tonight that left me a bit cold.
ROBIN COUSINS: The flying is about the transitions the first two are great, the second two were under rotated or over rotated. It wasn’t as technically clean as it can be. It wasn’t quite all there.
