Dancing On Ice competitor, Todd Carty has revealed that his fellow skaters often compare him to John Sergeant behind the scenes of the show.

Speaking to The Mirror, Carty admitted: “Yeah they’ve nicknamed me ‘Sarge’ backstage. John wasn’t the best dancer in Strictly. But I’m sure he tried his best, which is exactly what I’m going to do.

“Susie is very patient and a wonderful skater. She looks like Tinkerbell on the ice. I’m sure I’m driving her absolutely bonkers and I seem to spend a lot of time apologising to her.”

He added: “I can’t tell you how relieved I was to avoid the skate-off though. I’d like to thank every living soul who voted for me.”
