Dancing On Ice 2010: Karen Barber says panel wouldn’t be the same without Jason Gardiner
Dancing On Ice coach and judge Karen Barber has spoken out in defence of her colleague Jason Gardiner. Jason has faced criticism in recent weeks for his caustic comments and for comparing Sharron Davies to faecal matter but Karen insists that he is essential to th ITV judging panel.
She said:
“Jason and I have done every series together, including the two that we did in Australia. So it’s good. He brings an extra special quality to the panel and it wouldn’t be the same without him. It’s only his opinion. I might like one thing and he might like something else.
“There’s no right or wrong, it’s just what we think at that moment.
“Jason is obviously very qualified at what he does. And if you break down what he says there’s a lot of truth in his criticism.
“He’s very constructive as far as lines and presentation go. The way he addresses his comments could be a bit more sensitive but it’s something he brings to the panel.
“As I’ve already said, the show just would not be the same without him. Emma Bunton has been a wonderful addition to the panel and has fitted in really well. She brings something a little bit different. We all do. I think that’s what makes a good panel. And Jason’s part is to do what he does.”
