Dancing On Ice is in it’s penultimate week and it seems that both Matthew Wolfenden and Jorgie Porter are desperate to earn a place in next week’s final.
It has been reported that both the Emmerdale actor and the Hollyoaks star are rehearsing the dangerous headbanger move with their professional partners, in the hope that it will be enough to win them a majority of public votes on tomorrow night’s show.
We would be most worried about Matthew’s partner Nina in this scenario, as she will have to rust the hunk enough, to let him spin her by the ankles, while her head is just inches from the ice rink.
Jorgie on the other hand has reportedly been pestering show bosses for weeks to let her and Matt Evers attempt the tricky lift.
A source told The Sun:
“It’s semi-final time and the pressure’s on.
“Everyone knows if you pull off the headbanger there is a strong chance the judges will reward you — and the public. The difference tomorrow is that with two couples doing it, the second one will be judged against the first.”
Sources have also claimed that bosses have arranged for extra medics to be on standby on the night, because so many of the routines will contain more dangerous elements than usual.
“This series has been dominated by injuries from broken bones to torn muscles, so everyone is nervous about Sunday,” an ITV insider told the Daily Star newspaper.
“It’s our job to make sure they are well looked after off the ice.
“Fingers crossed we can get them to the final in one piece!”
The insider also said that Jorie has been suffering from an extreme attack of nerves in advance of tomorrow night’s show, however Jennifer Ellison hasn’t escaped unscathed and has been taking motion sickness tablets, to help her deal with a fast spin she and Dan Whiston must perform in their routine.
Meanwhile, bookies have tipped former X Factor star Chico Slimani as the favourite to be eliminated tomorrow, just one week before the final, as he is the only competitor who has previously been in the skateoff.
This week’s show will be more challenging than usual, as the stars will be facing the Ultimate Skills Test once again.
As well as performing with their partners, each star will have to take on a one minute solo routine, in which they will demonstrate their ability to pull off 23 different moves.
