Dancing On Ice 2012: Sam Nixon channeled George Michael as he performed during pop week (VIDEO)

Sam Nixon admitted that he was more than a little nervous before taking to the rink on tonight’s Dancing On Ice show.

The children’s TV presenter had messed up a lift during an earlier dress rehearsal and dropped his professional partner Alexandra Schauman on the hard ice. This evening, he was concerned that he would get it wrong again and possibly more seriously injure his pal.

However, the star managed to convey some confidence when he started to perform, dressed as George Michael, with a cheesy blonde wig and dressed in tight white jeans.

He skated to Jitterbug by Wham for pop week and though there were no falls or trips, he was not quite as steady and fast as some of his fellow contestants.

SCORE: 16.5

JUDGES COMMENTS:

Louie Spence: I love a bit of pop and it was a poptastic track. I think you came into your own last week, your whole performance was much bigger. For me tonight, I don’t think it was as good as last week, you need to up your game a bit.

Katarina Witt: Sam to me you are like a surprise egg, when you open up you don’t know what to get. You are becoming more of a pair skater and the lift, I think it was a really good save, you didn’t go all the way up but you couldn’t tell.

Robin Cousins: It’s about the detail. You have great basic skating skills so you can now spend time finessing them and working on your grace. You did engage us and the audience at home tonight.
