Dancing On Ice 2013: Anthea Turner says of the aftermath of Grant Bovey’s alleged affair, “We women pick over things; reconstruct things…”
It’s no secret that the now former Dancing On Ice star Anthea Turner was devastated when it was claimed in the press that her husband, Grant Bovey, had had an affair with 24-year-old Zoe de Mallet Morgan…
However, during an interview this week, Anthea has revealed that starring on DOI has given her and Grant some time apart to get a better perspective on things, and to – evidently – realize that their marriage is worth fighting for.
But reading between the lines of what Anthea said to The Sun, it would appear – to me at any rate – that she’s in part blaming herself for some of the marital strife.
She said of her marriage to Grant, “Things are back on track. It takes two people and relationships go through difficult times and I don’t know anyone who has a clean run — very few people do these days.”
She added, “Dancing On Ice was at the right time for me.
“I think sometimes if you have too much time on your hands, you spend too much time thinking, rethinking, doing creative thinking.
“So actually the skating was fabulous because you have to concentrate on it and it did it for me.”
Now, I have to say, for as much as I like and admire Anthea, I do so hate being generically tarred with any brush, and Anthea’s It’s What Women Do statement therefore rankled somewhat…
For me, it’s rather similar to statements such as “women love shoes and shopping” because this woman hates both. Shoes are utilitarian items for me, and I detest shopping, and loathe window shopping even more.
Ok, rant over.
Back to what Anthea had to say, and she added, “We lost each other for a while and things went a bit off track…
“But a good friend of mine from a very strong Indian family said, ‘If there are 20 chains that hold you together and you’ve a problem with one of them, don’t destroy everything.’
“Everything is very individual. There are no rules, but I don’t think you have to be narrow-minded about it.
“We talk and don’t take knee-jerk reactions because you can’t go back on them.”
And finally, of what she’s taken from the show, Anthea said, “I’ve got a skater’s bum. I need to hold on to that.
“Grant has noticed it.
“I haven’t had one as good as this ever — it’s a great bum.”
Here’s a reminder of Anthea performing last weekend…
