Dancing On Ice celeb Anthea Turner is reportedly “in agony” after sustaining a rib injury in training this week.
She apparently has a “popped” rib which happened as she was rehearsing for the coming weekend’s performance. Having felt something go “ping” Anthea took to her bed for the rest of the day, but it seems the pain hasn’t reduced a great deal.
A show insider told TV Biz, “Anthea popped a rib during her duel routine on Monday and has a hot water bottle on her ribs all day, but she hasn’t missed any training — yet.
“She is really worried about it, as she is in a lot of pain, but she’s a real trooper and is insisting that it will be all systems go for this weekend…
“Her attitude is that the show must go on, and she has told everyone she will be at training over the next few days, regardless of the rib injury.”
Yesterday Anthea tweeted, “Lying on my bed with hot-water bottle strapped to my ribcage. Felt it and heard 1 ping Y/day PAIN!!!!”
Meanwhile, Anthea’s fellow competitor Beth Tweddle has vowed to up her game on the ice after catty judge Jason Gardiner said of her routine last week “I was bored to Beth.”
So, in a bid to spice things up, Beth has apparently called on the coaching services of former Bolshoi Ballet principal Irek Mukhamedov who’s been training with Beth and dance partner Dan Whiston.
A show source said, “Beth is taking the show very seriously and is keen to take all of the judges’ constructive criticism on board.
“As you would expect from an Olympian, she is very competitive and is determined to perform to the best of her ability on Sunday night.
“She went to Irek to ask for his help, and training with him has been a huge help to her.
“Her next routine is set to be a very exciting one.”
