Dancing On Ice 2013: Jason Gardiner brands Luke Campbell ‘a weak feeble boy’
Luke Campbell made his Dancing On Ice debut a few minutes ago with professional partner Jenna Smith.
The hunk agreed to appear on the ITV show a few months ago and has been committed to his training ever since. From the start it was clear that his drive, his dedication and his fitness level was going to help him along the way and in practice sessions Torvill and Dean gave him more complicated moves than they normally would to an ice skating newbie.
Tonight the pair skated to Gold Forever and we have to admit, Campbell looked really rather yummy in his skintight gold vest top. He span, he lifted his partner, he skated backwards and all in all, this was a much better and more advanced routine than we would have expected for week one.
There were butterfly leaps and a few around the worlds and of course a roll up. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the rest of the series.
The panel scored Luke 18.5 and explaining their marks the judges said:
Karen: Solid performance you came out fighting. You’ve got the speed over the ice, we need more knee bend and more flow but well done.
Jason: I think there is potential. You are an olympic gold medallist boxer and tonight you looked like a weak feeble boy. There isn’t a commanding presence or any strength in the upper body.
Robin: You tick a lot of boxes, you just need to pull them onto the same page. You are in control with your partner but the body can get a bit scarecrow like. Eventually you will need to become more pliable as you attempt more difficult things.
