It’s been revealed today that Dancing On Ice star and comedian Joe Pasquale got quite a scare when he noticed he had a lump on his backside that he feared could be something serious…
However, fortunately, after visiting one of the show’s medics, Joe learned that the lump was only a muscle.
TV Biz reports that Joe said, “In all seriousness, I went to see the physio and I said, ‘I’m a little bit worried. I’ve got a growth on my bum’.
“Sharon, our wonderful physio, said, ‘Let me have a look’ and she went, ‘It’s a muscle!’
“I said, ‘But it’s never been there before’. And she said, ‘You’ve never done this sort of exercise before!’”
Joe’s lost a whopping 1½st since he began training for the show, and he reckons part of the reason for his weight loss is the weight of his skates.
He said, “The skates weigh a couple of pounds each and you’ve got those on for ten hours a day on the Saturday and Sunday.
“I’ve lost three inches off my waist. I can get into suits I’ve not worn in ten years!”
Of that he said, “I lost a stone in three weeks in the jungle. This feels a lot healthier.
“I’ve started to wear David Beckham pants now rather than TK Maxx ones! But Mrs Pasquale’s not bothered.
“After 26 years, I wouldn’t worry on that front.”
However, what has had Joe worried contracting shingles has had on him.
He said, “I was so ill I was having ice packs to cool me down. Everybody says I should have had two or three weeks off but I had ONE DAY off.
“It’s a million times better but it’s still all over my front and back. But I won’t give up on anything once I get my teeth into it.”
But that’s not his only health problem as he’s also coping with a shoulder injury.
He said, “I’ve got a dislocated shoulder and it pops out and won’t stay in because I’ve torn the ligaments.
“I had a medical before the show and Sharon said I could do it but no lifts.
“But in training my partner Vicky Ogden said I would be alright.
“We’ve been doing lifts now and nobody expected it — least of all me.
“She’s found a certain way of holding her body and I’ve strengthened my shoulder.”
And finally, while saying that despite everything, he’s enjoying being on the show, modest Joe added, “I’ve no idea why people are voting for me.
“I thought I’d go out in the first week. But in for a penny, in for a pound.”
Dancing On Ice continues on ITV tomorrow at 6.15pm, but for now, here’s a look at Joe’s performance last week…
