Karen Barber has confirmed that Dancing On Ice contestant Anthea Turner is suffering with a rib injury.

The TV star just narrowly avoided being eliminated from the ITV show on Sunday, after she ended up in the bottom two with Lauren Goodger and when she went back into training on Monday, the domestic Goddess managed to get hurt while practicing a new lift.

She tweeted yesterday saying:

“Just left training rink, lost mojo today all felt to much. Put together new ‘Save Me’ & worked on Duel number. Downing p/killers for rib x”

Anthea added:

“Lying on my bed with Hot-water bottle strapped to my ribcage. @AndyBuchananTV felt it and heard 1 ping Y/day PAIN!!!!”

Speaking on Daybreak this morning Karen explained the injury saying:

“She’s doing alright, I think the girls do tend to suffer those rib injuries because of the difficult lifts. We have a great physio in Sharon and she’s managing the injury but we have to be aware of it and try to look after it.”

Karen also spoke about comedian Joe Pasquale and his Dancing On Ice potential.

The comic was a big hit with the judges when he performed at the weekend, even though he wasn’t very good and did manage to fall off the rink at one point. Karen thinks he’s making improvements slowly but surely but she certainly hasn’t been blown away by his natural talent and added:

“He’s great fun and if you think of where he started to his performance on Sunday, he has improved so much but probably not quite enough yet.”

She continued:

“He’s still doing panto at the moment so he’s struggling to find the time but he does put the work in. When we had a break over Christmas I know for a fact he skated every day, apart from Christmas day. It didn’t make that much different.”

Joe and Anthea will return to the ice this weekend and both will have to take on the new duel challenge. In the twist celebrities have been put into pairs and they will each skate with their professional partner at the same time as a fellow contestant performs with theirs. They will be on the rink at the same time, but showcasing different routines. In the end the judges will grant immunity from elimination to one couple while the other will face the public vote.
