Karen Barber thinks she knows who will be in the Dancing On Ice final this year.
The former medal winning ice skater acts as a judge and head coach on the ITV show and in her role spends more time with the hopefuls than any other person.
She has been working with the celebrities and their professional partners for months and when the series started in January she was backing Matt Lapinskas, Gareth Thomas and Beth Tweddle for the win. Karen admitted in a new interview that she still thinks that will be the case.
Speaking to new! magazine the star – who is dating Olympic legend Christopher Dean – said:
“From day one, my top three predictions were Matt Lapinskas, Gareth Thomas and Beth Tweddle. I’m sticking with that.”
Karen was asked about the supposed romance between Samia Ghadie and her partner Sylvain Longchambon and even though the actress herself alluded to their relationship on the last live show, Barber refused to be drawn on the issue and said:
“Sam and Sylvain train in the north, so I only see them on show days and when they’ve got skates on.
“They seem to be getting on, working hard and they’re very professional.”
The judging panel had a bit of a shake up this year and as well as the return of Jason Gardiner, we also saw the addition of new judge Ashley Roberts.
Karen thinks the Pussycat Dolls star is perfect for the job and she’s glad to be back on the panel alongside her. She said:
“I love being back! I hadn’t done it for two years, but I feel confident about my judging. I have 40 years of experience and I know my skating inside out.
“Ashley’s doing great. She’s a lovely person She’s friend and approachable, we clicked straight away.”
This week on Dancing On Ice will see the contestants taking part in a team challenge. Matt Lapinskas revealed the lineup last night when he tweeted:
“So this week it’s group number me @gareththomas14 and @luke11campbell going to bring it! #TeamMatt x”
Beth Tweddle will be skating with Samia and Keith Chegwin.
