TV presenter and Dancing On Ice star Keith Chegwin has revealed that he’s lost a whopping two stone in weight during his time on this year’s show.

And while speaking to TV Biz about the dramatic weight loss, Keith revealed that he now needs new costumes as the ones he was originally fitted for are now too big.

He also explained that shedding the fat has made him feel fitter than he has for years.

He said, “Three months ago I couldn’t even walk up the stairs. I was so unfit. I never did any exercise.”

Keith continued, “When Dancing On Ice came about I thought I better go the gym but I found it was so boring.

“I used to stand next to the fat people to feel better!”

Keith, who’s partnered with skater Olga Sharutenko, added, “I am as fit as I have ever been in my entire life. I have lost two stone now.”

And it seems his wife Maria likes his new trim figure. He said, “I got on the scales this morning and I have gone down to 12 stone exactly. I was 14 stone before.

“My wife went, ‘Bloody hell’.

“She said to me the other day, ‘Ooh, you have got some definition in your arms now’. She finds me sexier!

“They measured my waist last Sunday because we are having special costumes. I was 41in and now I am 38in. And Maria definitely loves the new me.”

Keith has of course been lined up to take part in last year’s show, but he fractured his shoulder and broke four ribs during training so had to pull out. But it seems those injuries are still causing him problems.

He explained, “My broken rib is still incredibly painful. I have got my painkillers for that. My back hurts and my breathing is still a bit shallow.”

And of pro-skating partner Olga, Keith said, “Olga is fantastic but I definitely don’t fancy her.

“I call her the Gremlin from the Kremlin because of the way she talks and pushes me so bloody hard.

“She comes from an Olympic background and would have me train from six in the morning until midnight if she could.

“Luckily, I have had no sort of embarrassing slips where my hand has landed on her boobs — but she has knocked me over twice.”

Dancing On Ice continues on ITV1 tomorrow at 6.15pm, but for now, here’s a look at Keith’s performance last week…
