Dancing On Ice 2013: Luke Campbell reckons he’ll be at a disadvantage against Samia Ghadie in tonight’s Duel!
However, Luke reckons that he’s already at a disadvantage in that he has to lift his pro-skating partner Jenna Smith, while it’ll be Samia’s skating partner Sylvain Longchambon who’ll be lifting her.
And as Luke pointed out in a chat with the Daily Star Sunday, Sylvain’s had lots of practice at carrying out lifts on the ice.
He said, “It’s tough for me going up against Samia because I’m having to do all the lifts which her partner Sylvain [Longchambon] is so good at…
“I don’t know how the judges are going to score it because I am doing more.
“I do think it’s harder than ¬going head to head with another guy, because then you are both on the same level playing field.”
And DOI judge Karen Barber agrees that Luke could fare less well than Samia tonight…
She said, “The men going up against the women has been a long-running argument.
“I would probably agree it is harder for the men, especially early on because they have to support and lift their partner.
“The pairings have been decided on who was next to each other on the leader board to try and make it as fair as possible.”
Meanwhile, as we reported earlier, Beth Tweddle may miss tonight’s show as she’s suffering from gastroenteritis, and if she does have to pull out of performing, it’s understood both she and Duel partner Oona King will automatically go through to next week’s round.
Here’s a reminder of one of Luke’s recent performances…
