Dancing on Ice 2014: Injured Hayley Tamaddon says “I’ll put in 110 per cent and do my best!”
Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon has had a terrible week after sustaining an injury so severe, it’s stopped her rehearsing and training for four days, and has left her nervous about returning to the ice.
Poor Hayley tore her calf muscle during rehearsals, and while speaking to TV Biz, she revealed that when she first sustained the injury, she thought she’d have to withdraw from the competition.
She explained, “I suffered a pretty bad leg injury that has knocked my confidence a little bit…
“It just came out of nowhere. I did a lift and it just hurt when I came down.
“I burst into tears and thought I was out. I was like, ‘Oh, what if? What if?’”
DOI bosses have arranged for Hayley to have physiotherapy for two hours a day in the hope that she can still perform at the weekend.
However, worried Hayley remarked, “We’ve lost four days training but I don’t feel too far behind. I caught up today on my routine and everything.
“I’ll put in 110 per cent and do my best. I’ve got to get used to the injuries.
“I’m so in love with skating I just don’t want it to stop.”
She continued, “I tore the same muscle earlier last year and it took months for it to finally heal.
“But Sharon, the Dancing On Ice physio, has worked wonders.”
Last night, Hayley took to Twitter to say, “Thank you @TheDanWhiston for just ‘getting me’…
“Bring on sunday! I won’t let you down. Xxx”
Meanwhile, when asked if her injury will have to be written into her Corrie plotlines – she plays college student Andrea on the soap – Hayley said, “They haven’t had to write my injury in but Dan (Whiston) had to give me a piggyback all the way down to the ice rink the other day because I couldn’t walk properly.”
Aw bless her. Here’s hoping she’s improved soon, but for now, here’s a reminder of her on DOI…
