Dancing On Ice: Anthea Turner to compete in the new series!
Anthea Turner, who of course shot to fame presenting Blue Peter – and who starred in Celebrity Big Brother back in 2001 – has reportedly signed up to take part in Dancing On Ice when the series returns to our screens.
According to The Sun, Anthea impressed the show’s bosses at a “try-out” last week, and as a result, she is now set to be offered a deal worth £50,000.
A show source told the paper, “Anthea is a household name and someone who ITV chiefs are convinced viewers will want to see on the ice rink.
“She has managed to keep herself in good nick over the years and is very fit for someone who is 52.
“Also, Anthea has not been on the television for years so is aching to get back into the limelight.”
Other celebrities who have tried out for the show recently reportedly include Harry Potter star Oliver Phelps and Olympic gold medalist, boxer Luke Campbell.
Keith Chegwin recently confirmed that he will be taking part in the new series after he was forced to drop out last year when he suffered serious injury during training.
Confirming his place on the show this year, he said, “I was supposed to do it last year but I fell over and broke my arm – but I’m a definite for this year.
“I’ve just got to lose weight and skate, I’m really worried about it.
“Last year Torvill and Dean said go as fast as you can, so I did and fell over and broke my shoulder and three ribs.
“The producers had been on at me to sign the contract and it was only after I had that I went on the ice and fell over.
“It’s a good job I’d signed it.”
