Denise Welch admitted tonight that she finds it ‘uplifting’ that the public are still voting for her, despite the fact that the judges can’t stop slating her.

However, she stood a better chance of getting some more positive feedback tonight, as Jayne Torvill and Chris Dean gave her a slow emotional number to skate to, knowing that that is the sort of performance she excels at.

This evening Denise and Matt skated to ‘Alone’ by Heart and were dressed in beautifully subtle lilac costumes.

The routine started well and the pair achieved great synchronicity during the beginning segment. However, as Denise got in and out of lifts it was a little ungraceful and there were a few wobbles as they duo got close to the end.

The judges gave the pair 15, which could be boosted to 30 if Team Laura wins later tonight and Robin Cousins gave her some positive commentary saying:

You are in your comfort zone, you do look more comfortable and at home in your routine and I like that you took it to the next level with your lifts.

Emma Bunton added:

I found tonight that some of your transitions in and out of lifts were a bit messy but I don’t even want to look at that because the thing is, most people find the slower numbers much harder but you bring real control to it and real calmness to your performance and that is what I love about you.

And , always with the negativity Jason Gardiner said:

It was a liitle bit like watching two people play twister. It was like Matt did a position then he assisted you into another position, there was no flow.

However, he was stopped in his tracks when Denise’s husband Tim Healy walked straight up to the judging table and ranted:

She’s 52 and she’s got 4 jobs!! How many jobs have you got eh?

Denise looked mortified as Jason quipped:

Oh my God your breath!

She later laughed:

It’s only the transvestite off of Benidorm!
