The shocking news that Coronation Street star, Samia Ghadie, has reportedly embarked on a relationship with her Dancing On Ice professional skating partner, Sylvain Longchambon, has left Hollyoaks actress, Jennifer Metcalfe devastated, and claiming that she has been “kicked in the teeth” by her soap love rival!
Fans of all shows involved will know how Jennifer, who plays Mercedes McQueen in the award-winning Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, began seeing Sylvain after she was paired with him during series 6 of the hit ITV skating show, Dancing On Ice, nearly two years ago.
Meanwhile, Samia, who plays Maria Connor in award-winning ITV1 rival soap, Coronation Street, had been seeing her former co-star, Will Thorpe, who she left her husband and father of her only child for in 2011 also, but called off her relationship to him a month ago, before the news that she had started seeing Longchambon hit our headlines.
Now, with the new DOI relationship general knowledge, betrayed Metcalfe is said to be “in bits” after being callously dumped by the French Championship skater, after he admitted that he had begun “developing feelings” for Samia Ghadie, the Sun newspaper reports.
Friends of Hollyoaks beauty, Metcalfe, have said that the star, whose character has just got engaged in the award-winning Channel 4 soap, has been left devastated by the split, which she found out about via a phone call from Longchambon!
A source revealed to the publication last night: “Jennifer is absolutely gutted. She just did not see this coming. She is in bits. She feels she has been kicked in the teeth and is devastated.”
Sylvain phoned Jennifer from France to deliver the devastating news on Friday, whilst he was on a break from rehearsals with Samia for the new series of Dancing On Ice, which is due to begin on Sunday evening.
The source said: “They have been training together since October so it is pretty quick for people to start having strong feelings for each other.”
Jennifer, who is staring in panto in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, was comforted by friends and family who travelled from her home town of Bradford to take her out for a meal after Saturday’s show.
The source added: “The first thing the girls did was to make sure she had a shoulder to cry on.
“They took her out for a nice meal and a few drinks and helped her put the world to rights.
“The pain is very real at the moment but Jennifer is gorgeous, talented and a lovely person so it is his loss in the end — not hers.
“But it’s going to be tough to see Samia and Sylvain skating together.”
So far sources close to Sylvain and Samia have denied that the pair are officially an item, however admitted that they “wouldn’t be surprised” if a romance developed.
One told The Sun: “Samia is adamant she has done nothing wrong, but she admits she’s close to Sylvain and that he has been a rock to her since her relationship broke down with Will.
“They clearly have chemistry and they are both single. If they want to get together, then why not? No one can say what will happen in the future, but they aren’t an item yet.”
This revelation has slashed Samia’s chances of winning the popular ITV skating show, and bookies have confirmed that Samia, who was one of the favourites to win the show, has had hardly any money bet on her since the story leaked, meaning they won’t have much time left to skate if they are voted out early in the competition.
A spokeswoman for Ladbrokes said: “Hardly any money has been placed on Samia to win since this came out.”
