Dancing On Ice: Jason Gardiner won’t be sacked over Karen Barber row

Jason Gardiner will NOT get the sack from Dancing On Ice but insiders say he has been given a stern talking to by show bosses.

The judge had previously hit out at head coach Karen Barber, after she questioned his critique of Johnson Beharry’s routine.

Referring to the fact that she was dropped from the judging panel for this year’s series, Jason blasted her saying:

‘Karen if your opinion mattered, you’d still be on the panel.’

His comments caused uproar and ITV received more than 3,000 complaints. Gardiner admitted yesterday that he may get axed from the show because of the spat but today it has been revealed that he has been given another chance.

A spokesman told The Sun:

“Jason has been spoken to by producers and that is the end of the matter.”

A show source added: “Jason was told this sort of behaviour is completely out of order.

“It’s fine to bitch about contestants, but you can’t slag people you work with.

“It might make great TV but ITV has a duty of care to employees.”

its not acceptable he should go, you should not have to polica a family show, if it was the work place he would be out, no second chances P45

  2. Melissa says:

No he would not be sacked he said summit In heat of moment like most other people have he apologised to her live on air should be end of it. He on there to be the panto villain.

  3. Caroline says:

Hi, I for one am tired of Jason bitchy personal put downs. You can be critical without doing that. His comments to Karen are really unacceptable. I hope he is not back next year

  4. Jeanette Faison says:

Typical. 3000 complaints. So many things on tv that should not be on and that people should complain about but they can only be bothered to get off their arses for something petty like this.

Someone needs to remind gardiner that he was nothing but a chorus girl, backing dancer on Cats. i had the great misfortune of having to work with this baffoon. He was an arrogant P…k then. Oh, hows his balding head and horse teeth these days. The guy is a genuine freak and no one but no one should pay any attention to anything he has to say. Get him off my TV screens, I love DOI and TM but will not watch while he is on. Isn’t his fashion advice great on this morning…NOT…do the decent thing and resign baldy.

  6. Andrew says:

When are the producers going to ditch this idiot? Aren’t you listening! Unlike CRH on ‘Strictly’, JG is not in the least humorous, witty or likeable. He is not the pantomime baddy he is just a vile creature. Obviously he’s swotted up on his ice terms since last season so congrats to whoever gave him the book. Shame on you RC that you even give credence to his comments. Last straw was his remark about KB. GET RID OF HIM!!

  7. Michael Ryal says:

Unfortunately, my DOI days are now over, I can hear childish and non constructive comments such as this horses head cane out with, in any school playground. This one more chance policy adopted by spineless ITV Company,
falls into their “It makes for good television” attitude, but sorry ITV….WRONG!

  8. Val Elton says:

What a spineless attitude by ITV, of course they wont sack him it’s good for the viewing figures. This kind of bullying in the workplace is unacceptable and anyone doing it would be sacked. By the way MELISSA, IT IS SOMETHING NOT SUMMITT, THAT IS THE TOP OF A MOUNTAIN.

  9. chris a says:

i cant stand this poor excuse for a (man)would he talk to a man the way he spoke the Karen NO I DONT THINK SO and what does he know about ice skating he is an arrogant p…k just get rid of him he does nothing but insult people , you horrible nasty bald headed mr nobody just sod off we would all enjoy the show much more without your nasty input .

  10. lisa says:

If everyone accepts this type of behaviour then they are prepared to be treated that way themselves – I’m not and frankly the man should go – it’s disgraceful!

  11. dean says:

I cant beleive it, they are keeping him on and as for producers saying to him “It’s fine to bitch about contestants, but you can’t slag people you work with”.
That is disgraceful he shouldnt slag anyone off, give constructive critism yes but not be rude and insulting with it, by them keeping him on, they have let down the contestants, colleagues aswell as the viewers, maybe by a mracle this is the shake-up he needs either that or a good right hook we will see sunday i suppose

  12. Susan says:

I will not be viewing DOI in any shape or form until that horrible miserable excuse for a human being is sacked. As for the spineless ITV bosses that are condoning this behaviour shame on you. It is not good viewing nor is it entertainment.

  13. Tony Fenwick says:

Well Mellisa, as I can hardly make out from your writing exactly what you are trying to tell us, I shall take no notice at all.

  14. margaret says:

Who does Jason think he is dressing up as Norman Wisdom and then making insulting comments about other people he really needs to have a good look in the mirror before he goes on screen

  15. margaret says:

who does Jason think he is dressing up as Norman Wisdom and then having the cheek to make such personal and rude comments he really needs to take a reality check and perhaps occasionally take a good look in a mirror

  16. jen says:

i think jason is great i like people who speaks there mind if karancarnt take comments that jason say may be time for to go not jason .karen if u carnt stand the heat get out of the kitchen

  17. Kathy says:

ITV has done exactly what I expected, after all they believe this idiot is good for the viewing figures.
Well ITV, you are wrong. Your actions will I am sure, mean that DOI will lose many many viewers like me. I have never been a fan of JG, he is an arrogant fool, but after last weeks comments to KB I have finally decided that I will no longer watch the show while this awful man is on it.

  18. Sharon says:

Can anyone tell me why Karen is no longer on the panel. I think what JG said was completely out of order and his apology wasn’t an apology at all as he added another insult at the end. The least ITV should do is make him do a proper public apology with real humility at the beginning of Sundays show. I shall look forward to that.

  19. F Wright says:

this old Queen needs help, he seems to have a problem with nether regions and their functions, could he be frustated?, and as regards being nasty after all he is AUSTRALIAN and they think and act differently from any one else, get rid.

  20. Dan says:

Seriously, what difference does it make, your TVs don’t have channel buttons? I’ve never read such a load of horse s**t!
Firstly, the idiot is a judge on a cruddy ice dancing program that I had the misfortune to see while at my parents house for dinner, and I’ve got to be honest, was an annoying little muppet, but it IS only a television show, and, had I been at home, I would have calmy reached for my remote, and changed the channel.
Secondly, all those “had he made those comments in a real job he would be fired” idiots, think about what your saying, it isn’t like he was dragging This woman into a stationary cupboard and routinely hitting her in the face with office supplies, he essentially had an argument with a co-worker. Any sensible manager does exactly what the itv bosses apparently did, and seriously warn the guy.
Thirdly, and lastly, who the hell cares!? Honestly get some perspective, if you don’t like the way somethings done, then have nothing to do with it! After your first slice of s**t pie, if you go back for seconds you’ve only yourselves to blame!

  21. ann says:

Oh ITV you have this all wrong. I really hope that when NO ONE VOTES on Sunday you will realise that we the public need to be heard. Jason can only make personal comments, he does not give constructive advice he is a total waste of space.
I LOVE DOI but will not be watching, will watch on catch up so I can enjoy the skating and not have to even look at him.

He has been attacking people since series one – remember he told Kelly Holmes (another great Olypmic champ) she looked like a man in drag… has he ever looked in the mirror. Needs a personality transplant, has no talent himself so how dare he critic others

  22. ruty says:

I too, shall record it to watch later. I can fast forward through the adverts and miss the spiteful comments from JG and the reworded comments that EB gives. At least RC knows what he is talking about; as do Karen Barber and Nicky Slater. ITV will not get a phone call from me to save a dancer. I shall watch it for what it is – Dancing On Ice.
