Dancing On Ice: Make Me A Star, Coming To ITV

ITV TV show, Dancing On Ice is looking for the best non celebrity skater in Britain.
The search starts later this month, and the skater that is deemed most talented will get to perform in the Dancing On Ice 2009 final show.
ITV cameras will be documenting the search in dozens of local ice rinks all around the UK, and the footage will be shown as part of a new TV show, Dancing On Ice: Make Me A Star, which launches on the 26th of January.
The show will be fronted by Holly Willoughby and Torville and Dean will be in charge of seeking out the talent.
An insider told The Sun: “We felt it was only fair that the public got to show off their skills – just like our celebs.”

I sound just the same as everyone else, but I can’t say how much I love watching dancing on ice, i love dancing anyway and would love to have a go at learning how to dance on ice. I think it would be a nice idea to look for normal people who don’t have much skating experience at all just like the celebrities, instead of those who already have good skating ability. like the others I would love more information on it if you can send any?

I absolutely love to watch dancing on ice and have thought that it would be great if the public non celebrities could be offered the same opportunities as the celebrities. I am not a regular scatger and haven’t scated for a long time. I wouldn’t call myself a scater but would love to have the opportunity to be taught and to perform with the professionals. It would be a dream come true. Could you provide more information please.

I really hope that you change the criteria for this programme and like some other comments made you should look for people with little or no ice-skating experience. It would make the show alot more interesting like the celebrity show by where you see how hard work and training can develop or improve someone with little experience. I would just love to have the opportunity to be part of this show. Please give me an invite although practically a novise I would just love to learn and be professionally coached. Torvill and Dean are just fanastic!

I have to say how pleased I was hear about about the new show. I used to have skating lessons and used to try all of the lifts that the celebs do. I would love to have the chance to skate at the show. Could you please email more information and let me know which ice rinks itv will be filming at.

I am 57 . a widoer. I can skate forward and backwards.Been skating a few times with my grandaugher who’s 10years old. After my husband past away. I have done nothing with my life. Before I get to old, I would love to put a little fun back into my life, And to show my children, and their cildren. That you never to old to do something you really want to .

Basically I am who I am…i have only tried skating once! I need full on training and can put the hard work in!
I’m a 25 year old single mum of two girls, we all sit and watch dancing on ice every time it’s on. It would be my ultimate dream to become a star on this show I used to watch Torvil and Dean when I was younger and admire the elegance of it all.
My friend’s call me dizzy, but i would like to prove everyone wrong and show them just what i can do.
My life has not been a barrel of laughs but my friends always say I am laughing even when it hurts so I will give my upmost bubbliness throughout even when I fall over!!:)PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me you excellent people!:)xxxxxxx selena

I too think they should allow non-skaters a chance to compete - otherwise it’s not the same format as the celebrity version. Anyway for those skaters out there, you can upload your videos and apply on ITV - do google search for ‘make me a star’ etc. It looks like us non-skaters have no chance! Oh well, maybe next year?

What has happened to the Saturday Dancing on Ice, Make me a Star, show? I enjoyed the first two, but wonder why it is not on any more. Also what has happened to the “look behind the scenes” programmes there used to be with Andy Peters? I also think ITV are losing the plot, a show of Dancing On Ice’s calibre should be shown on a Saturday night!

Hi,
sadly we dont have the ice rinks that current demand would suggest we should have in the uk. Also sadly this seems to be a lower priority than other popular viewing sports (with round balls) when it comes to receiving public money. The obvious to those in the know clearly doesn’t come home to roost with those with the purse strings! Or maybe they are actually quite clever and realise that ice sports coule be popular enough to threaten other televised sports.
