Todd Carty is reportedly returning to perform on what could be the final series of Dancing On Ice.
The Eastenders star appeared in the fourth series show in 2009 and was partnered with professional skater Susie Lipanova. He wasn’t much of a skater, in fact in the weeks he and Lipanova competed, they finished bottom of the leaderboard each time. However he was a born entertainer and one of the most memorable moments on the show to date has been when Carty lost control on the ice so badly that he ended up stumbling off the rink while his partner skated alone. He hilariously returned just in time to complete his routine to the Beatles song Help.
Now it seems ITV bosses wants some of that humour back and it’s been reported that the Grange Hill actor will be reunited with his skates for the ninth series of the show, which kicks off in January.
The All Star run is meant as a farewell to the format after Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean confirmed this year that they won’t be back for another run. It was at first reported that ITV have cancelled the show after the next series, but has since been rumoured that it may come back without the Olympic skating legends.
However, if this is the end of Dancing On Ice then it’s going to go out with a bang, because joining Todd on the rink will be former winner Suzanne Shaw – who won the show in 2008 – and former Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon, who triumphed in 2010.
An insider on the show told The Sun:
“All three have already been dusting off their skates and honing their skating ability – or lack of it, in Todd’s case – ready for the new series.”
What do you think of the lineup so far? Who do you want to see on Dancing On Ice this year?
