TOP TEN DANCING ON ICE MOMENTS!

Dancing On Ice 2008

The Celebrity Tumble
Viewers’ favourite Andi Peters may not have been the most confident skater on ice but he won over the British
public with his unique dancing (that involved him not moving his feet). He will always be fondly remembered for
his tumble during the opening number of show 2 that marked him as the first Dancing On Ice contestant to fall.

Un-safe Hands
David Seaman and Pam O’Connor unwittingly experienced one of the most hazardous ice issues during their
rehearsal for prop week. With a walking cane to incorporate into their routine, disaster struck when David
dropped Pam, sending her crashing to the ice – cutting open her chin as a result and causing the duo to sit out
of that week’s show.

The Headbanger
Daredevil skater Bonnie Langford performed one of the series’ most daring moves with skating partner Matt
Evers. Her signature move was the head-banger – in which Bonnie was swung around with only millimetres
between her and the ice below leaving audiences wincing in their seats. In her determination to conquer the
move Bonnie took to wearing a helmet during rehearsals.

The Put Downs
Resident judge and notorious Mr Nasty, Jason Gardiner shows no mercy when delivering his critiques to the
celebrities each week. Some of his most famous quips include:

To Andrea Mclean (series 1)
“Well Andrea you look beautiful first of all. But I felt like at times you looked a bit wooden with your upper body,
it looked like you had a coat hanger stuck up your back.”

To Kelly Holmes (series 1)
“I think you have such an amazing physical body, it’s so muscular and it’s great, but because you dance so hard you
almost run the risk of looking like a man in drag.”

To Stefan Booth (series 1)
“It kind of reminded me of a geek at the office Christmas party.”

To Emily Symons (series 2)
“You are an actress right? So you need to start acting more with the song, listen to the lyrics. And can I say one
more thing – elongate the neck darl, you have a short neck, elongate it.”

To Kaye Burley (series 2)
Jason on Kaye “I have to say Kaye there’s just no warmth in your presentation, you probably wouldn’t exude any
warmth if you were on fire.”

Mr Flamboyant
Last year’s runner up Duncan James proved he was a cut above the rest during disco week. Getting into his role
he insisted that the stylist curl his hair and spray it with glitter. It was definitely a high point of the competition and
even Duncan was astounded by the interest it caused.

The Unsung Heroes
Skating partners Matt Evers, Kristina Lenko and Dan Whiston have their own fan base with stacks of mail arriving
at Elstree each week rivalling that of the celebrities. Unusual gifts that have arrived at the studios range from
underwear to a marriage proposal for Kristina.

The Journey
Last year’s winner Kyran Bracken may have dazzled the audience with his moonwalk on ice and viewer’s favourite
routine Chasing Cars, but many forget it was a long journey for him to get there. His early rehearsals were spent
falling over and skating partner Melanie Lambert didn’t think they would make it through the first round.

Take That
Last year, pop legends Take That became the first band to appear live on Dancing On Ice, featuring in the opening
routine. As well as the studio rink having to be specially treated leading up to the performance so it could
withstand Gary Barlow’s grand piano, the band have been the only other people so far (outside of our skaters)
that have been allowed on the rink on a show day.

Battle of the Babes
Ice queens Ulrika Jonsson and Kay Burley entered into battle against one another to see who could stay in the
competition the longest. Each week the tension built in the studio as the girls took to the ice.A few weeks into
the competition it was the public who put them into the bottom two and into the skate off. With the stakes high
between the girls, it was the up to the judges, who decided to save Sky news presenter Kay Burley.

The Dare Devil
Last year’s runner up Clare Buckfield showed her daredevil streak by performing show stopping moves with
skating partner Andre Lipanov and gaining some of the highest scores, week on week. Clare’s most daring move
was when she was thrown in the air by Andre and landed on her skates (unaided).Having been unable to perform
this throughout rehearsals she wowed the audience as she completed the move perfectly live on the show.
