Swimlite Aqua Mum Impresses Dragons Den

Dragons DenI always love an invention that makes life easier for mums and it seems that Sandra Johnston-Murphy has come up with something that does just that.

Sandra was six months pregnant and taking a dip when she experienced lower back and shoulder pain. She found that attaching her daughters semi inflated beach ball to her bump helped her immensely and then came the idea for her new product Swimlite Aqua Mum.

Sandra told The Voice:

“There have been increasing reports in the media about women becoming overweight in pregnancy, which in certain cases may result in worrying complications therefore trying to keep fit is so important.

She added: “Water does provide a certain amount of buoyancy, however carrying the extra weight of the pregnancy can shift your centre of gravity causing you to be buoyant below the waterline. In your efforts to correct this imbalance, extra strain is placed on the body which results in an unnatural posture and may cause discomfort in the lower back and neck regions.”

“I have had really good reaction from people who have used it in my market testing and have had no negative feedback.” she said.

“I decided to appear [on Dragons Den] because of the investment opportunity and to raise awareness of the product.”

“They loved the product and I was very happy with the responses I received. On the programme they usually only give you a few minutes to discuss the product if its new but it wasn’t the case for me. It was largely positive” she said.

    Hi there,

Well that was nerve racking!! I stood there in front of those Dragons for 2 1/2 hours, you would have thought they would have given me a little longer on the show to explain about my revolutionary product- The Swimlite Aqua Mum.

You can contact me through my website http://www.sjmbabyproducts.co.uk if you want to find out more about the Swimlite Aqua Mum and about my time in the den!!

    Sandra,

I didn’t realise you were in the den for so long. They imply that you only get a few minutes to sell your idea to them.

I’m glad you got the backing you need, and I hope you do very well!
