Yesterday morning, Unreality TV caught up with Alan Kenefick Prodijig, just hours after his dance troupe scooped the £250,000 prize money and won Sky 1′s Got To Dance.
The Irish dance troupe – the members of which used to perform in the insanely popular stage show Riverdance – wowed Diversity’s Ashley Banjo with their final routine on Sunday night, prompting him to ehtuse:
That was disgustingly good. Look what you did to the 6,000 strong audience here tonight, everyone was on their feet. Incredible!
Prodijig look set for big things, after winning Got To Dance on Sunday night.
The Irish dance troupe have reportedly already signed a deal with Ant and Dec’s management company and will soon embark on their first US tour, all in a matter of two days.
The James Grant Group look after Ruth Langsford, Richard and Judy, Vernon Kay and Leigh Francis and now the Belfast dancers will also be on their books.
Got To Dance; the UK’s biggest national dance competition concluded in a gripping finale tonight shown live on Sky 1 and Sky 3D, as ten amazing acts battled it out to be crowned Got To Dance Winner 2012 and claim £250,000; the largest ever cash prize won from a TV talent show.
It was Prodijig from Ireland who amazed the judges and viewers alike with their unique contemporary twist on traditional Irish dance, with the total amount of votes up 20% from last years final.
This street dance gang really impressed us last time out. Can they do it again? Very probably. The quality of dancing on this Got To Dance final has been awesome. Everybody’s been raising their game, and the A Team are no exception. It’s a strange song choice – Hero by Mariah Carey – but the guys manage to craft a routine that’s sensitive to the music, but still works in the tricks, spins and incredible acrobatics that we expect from this genre.
The much anticipated Methods Of Movement are the next act to perform on the Got To Dance final tonight. There’s much b-boy craziness on stage, but what’s really impressive is the amazing level of control these guys have – they perform slowed down moves standing on their hands. The amount of balance and strength that it takes to pull of those kind of moves is OFF THE SCALE! I’m so impressed with these guys.
Next up on the Got To Dance 2012 Final are young dancers Kazzum. These flirty kids are the ones who are always in danger of looking a little amateurish because of their age. But the crazy thing is, they’re incredibly tight. Their moves are just brilliantly in sync, and they’ve chosen a brilliant uptempo set of songs to perform to.
Kimberly Wyatt says that the level of talent is much higher tonight and criticises the boys for not being cleaner on their final performance. Ashley praises them for the level of difficulty they’re already at, but said they need a few more years of experience and dancing to perfect things. Adam Garcia repeats this message, saying that the judging criteria for the final is different for the rest of the competition. They’re simply not at the right level.
I’m a little bit disappointed for the boys, because like Davina said, they only got through in last week’s semi-final, so they didn’t have much rehearsal time for their finale performance. But I can appreciate where the judges are coming from too. Following an act like Fear Of The Unknown was never going to be an easy task.
Mya (aka Sweet Surprise)
The surprise winner a couple of semi-final episodes ago, Sweet Surprise charmed the audience with her cute as a button performance first time round. Can she do it again, or will she fall foul of the judges like Kazzum did?
Damnit, she’s good. This kid is already a master contortionist, and she shows it off by flipping, twirling and tumbling all around the stage. She pulls the same trick off as before, which is a sedate, vintage number that gives way to a rawk number and a faster, feistier dance routine. By the time the music ends, the crowd are on their feet screaming!
Adam Garcia says he’s lost for words when Mya dances. He calls her a charismatic performer, but says the semi-final dance was technically better. But he awards a gold star anyway. Ashley Banjo initially applauds Mya for her achievement at such a young age. He’s not as generous as Adam and awards a red star. I think it’s the right decision really. Kimberly Wyatt gives her a gold star, calling Mya “amazing”.
I think the public vote might prove the judges wrong, but we’ll just have to wait and see on the result show.
Third act to perform on tonight’s Got To Dance Final are Boadicea. I remember being slightly underwhelmed by them in the semi-finals. Tonight thought they’ve got a much tighter ensemble going on, and the song selections are banging: White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and Beyonce’s Baby Boy. The whole routine came off much better, and the girls worked in a few more acrobatic moves that I appreciated.
It’s the exciting Got To Dance 2012 Final tonight, and ten acts are going head to head in the battle to become this year’s winner. To ease the blog overload, we’ll be doubling up on performance reviews – two per post, since running Got To Dance alongside Dancing On Ice could be potentially overwhelming!
Tonight’s finale is brought to you LIVE from London’s ginormous Olympia Exhibition Centre. It really looks like a fantastic venue for the final. Kimberly Wyatt is looking phenomenal in a stunning gold dress. Ashley Banjo has scrubbed up alright as well, and Adam Garcia is looking dapper as usual! But enough blethering about the judges, on with the show!
When we watched The Biggest Loser last night, we remarked on how very hot Davina McCall was looking and how stunning her figure was in her slim fitting blue dress.
So it’s no surprise to us, that Got To Dance judge Kimberly Wyatt has admitted that she has a bit of a girl crush on the former Big Brother presenter, because we think we might have one ourselves!
In last night’s fifth live semi-final of Sky 1 Got To Dance, the final two dance acts won their chance to compete in the live grand finale, joining eight other competitors who are one step closer to winning the £250,000 cash prize.
Hosted by Davina McCall, Got To Dance has scoured the nation for Britain’s best crews, troupes and solo dancers of all styles and ages. Now in its third year, the number of applicants, and the level and styles of talent on offer has been greater than ever before. On the judging panel are three dance experts – leader of award-winning dance crew Diversity, Ashley Banjo, trained dancer and singer Kimberly Wyatt and Adam Garcia, tap dancer extraordinaire.
