Got to Dance 2013: Kimberly Wyatt gives her opinion of this year’s acts ahead of tonight’s final!
This year’s series of Sky1’s Got to Dance concludes with the final tonight in which host Davina McCall welcomes back this year’s top ten acts to battle it out at London’s Olympia for the £250,000 prize and the crown of Got to Dance champion.
Lukas MacFarlane, Tom, Rhys, Mini Moves, Rory, IMD, Antics and Godson have all made it through so far to perform in front of Ashley Banjo, Kimberly Wyatt and Aston Merrygold, and although the judges’ opinions are intended as a guide for the viewers at home, it’s the fans’ votes that will ultimately decide this year’s winner…
However, in today’s TV Biz, Kimberly has given her opinion of the finalists, and explained why she thinks the show is the definitive one in its genre.
She began by saying, “We’ve had a ton of applications this year and the competition has been fiercer than ever.
“The show has opened up a creative stage for everyone to come, be accepted and get the growth they are looking for.
“Variety shows like Britain’s Got Talent serve a purpose…
“But when it comes to getting noticed in the dance world and respect from your peers, Got To Dance opens up that stage.
“It’s not only an amazing experience but such a learning platform.”
However, former Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly also confessed the show’s “high level of talent” has caused rows between herself and her fellow judges Aston Merrygold and Ashley Banjo.
She said, “Ashley and I tend to have the most fights – usually about krump acts.
“He loves them and I do too, but I don’t always feel they hit all the right notes.
“During the auditions I voted off one man because he couldn’t hit the beat of the music and the reaction from the boys had me shaking in my boots.
“I had to allow it to happen, deal with the adrenalin rush of being argued with and then walk away and take a moment to collect. It isn’t always easy.”
As mentioned, the Got To Dance final airs from 6pm tonight on Sky1, and ahead of it, here are Kimberly’s thoughts on the finalist…
Antics: Last year they made it to the final. They are really hungry.
Godson: He has found a way to make krump translate better.
Gymtasia Evolution: Their dance ability wasn’t at the same level as their gymnastics in the semis.
IMD: They will either get it right or go too far and end up unravelling.
Lukas McFarlane: You feel the honesty from every move he makes.
Mini Moves: We need more than bendy moves.
Rhys Yeomans: A gorgeous technician.
Rory O’Shea: He is shy but becomes someone else on stage.
Ruff Diamond: Their last performance was one of the best we’ve ever seen.
Tom Hughes-Lloyd: A dynamic performer.
Who do you reckon will win? For now, here’s a look back at the semi-finals…
