Grease Is The Word: Danny Bayne
Age: 19
Job: Student
Location: London
“I have been told that I am considered a triple threat”
The Story So Far…
* During his first audition, David Ian told Danny that he had it all: “You sing; you dance; you act.” David Gest told him he had a ‘John Travolta-like quality’, while Brian thought he was a ‘Genius’.
* David Ian thought Danny’s performance at Bootcamp was ‘disappointing’ and that he should have been ‘great’. Brian expected more but Sinitta commented that perhaps he struggled with his partner.
History
* Danny lives with his parents in Welling, Kent.
* Danny has been dancing for eight years and singing for six.
* Throughout those eight years he took part in and won the British Latin American and Hip-Hop Dance Championships.
What made you apply for Grease?
“I’ve always loved the movie - it’s a classic – so, when I heard there were open auditions I was there in a flash. I have had so much support from all my family and friends, but mainly my parents.”
Is there anything that you are worried about in the next stage?
“No. I am confident in my own ability and I just want go out on that stage in front of all the viewers and do my thing. Hopefully people will like it.”
What makes you think you can be the next Danny?
“I feel I have the all-round performance skill and quality that is required to potentially make this character great, and I intend to show that. This is my ambition; in my eyes, nothing beats live performance. But if I had to choose something else I would be a choreographer to the stars.”
How do you think you would handle fame?
“Honestly, I don’t know how I would handle it, but I’ve always been taught to keep my feet firmly on the floor. Maybe not straight away, but if I could I would buy a Shelby Mustang GT 500 and a Dodge Viper GTS.”
What’s your main talent?
“I have been told that I am considered a triple threat, meaning equally talented in all three areas of performing - dancing, singing and acting. I also have a passion for choreography in all styles of dance, but my preferred style is jazz/contemporary infused hip-hop.”
What do you think of the judges?
“The judges seem like a few nice people who are trying to be nasty. But I’m afraid I can see right through that. I got that from my mum. Nothing ever discourages me. I just keep powering through.“
