Simon Cowell Criticises Grease Is The Word
Simon Cowell has suprisingly joined the ranks of critics of ITV’s new reality TV show, Grease Is The Word.
The Daily Mail reported that Simon, who is on the production team of the show, commented:
“Grease Is The Word is not going as well as I had hoped. It has been slaughtered by critics and rightly so. It is far too similar to our other formats.”
As the show still has five weeks to run I can’t imagine Simons comments will help the ratings any!

In some ways I am pleased that Simon has finally accepted
that the ratings for Grease has not been so good. The show
has been slated by critics and viewers alike, but hopefully
it should mean that there were lessons to learn here for future
reference.
When searching for one stage star its all very well to make it
fit into format tv. But even here time is important. But searching
for two stage stars at the same time is really pushing the boat out.
I do know time is money in television. Thousands of pounds just for
a few minutes, Studio, TV crew, external broadcast crew etc in fact
far to many to list. But time is what this show needed and a more
ordered way of getting the auditionees to perform and compete.
The only saving grace here is that ticket sales are reported to
be higher for Grease than Joseph.
I also feel that David Ian did not have the right team of judges.
I confess I’ve never heard of the young choreographer he’s
unknown. Sinnitta is not in the news every month so really she
had taken a back seat from her heydays in pop (which were never
that great anyway) and the ever weird David Gest is a complete
turn off. I do think that had David Ian been given the choice
and power to select who he would have liked to work with he
would have chosen a very different team.
All in all I hope Simon has learnt from this experience.
