BBC & Andrew Lloyd Webber To Do Jesus Christ Superstar

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has told The Sun that after he completes his current show, I’d Do Anything, with the BBC, he only intends on making two more series.

He told the newspaper:

“I think I will do two more series and then quit this kind of thing.

“People get tired, I think.

However, he did reveal what show they were thinking of covering next year saying:

“I have an idea to do Jesus Christ Superstar next year and then maybe another all-new show which I’m really excited about.”

So all you bearded singers out there, get limbering up those vocal chords, because the auditions will be taking place before the year is out!

I loved Any Dream Will Do and I’d Do Anything was fine as far as the Olivers were concerned but, as with Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing On Ice, the public is now automatically voting for the underdog or along regional lines, instead of considering the best person for the part. In addition, the producers seem to want to reinvent the part and give it to someone raw or fresh. There seems to be a contradiction on both sides. Surely it should be who is going to give the best performance to all those who pay for tickets?
