Cleopatra Leaves I’d Do Anything

Cleopatra’s dream is over as she becomes the second contestant to be eliminated from BBC One’s I’d Do Anything.
After a public vote Cleo and Keisha were the least popular Nancys and Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save Keisha. So Cleo is the second Nancy to leave the competition.
In Saturday’s live show, all 11 remaining Nancy finalists performed solo renditions of contemporary songs chosen to show viewers that they have the skill and sheer charisma to carry one of the most challenging roles in musical theatre.
After performing their songs and receiving feedback from Andrew Lloyd Webber and the expert panel of John Barrowman, Denise Van Outen and Barry Humphries, the Nancys faced a nervous wait for viewers to cast their votes.
During Saturday’s show, John said about Cleo’s performance: “I’m missing your connection with the words. It was a good vocal performance but ’stars when you shine…’ – it’s such a wonderful, rich thing to say, but it just didn’t make me tingle like I wanted it to.”
Denise said: “Cleo, it was great, a really good strong vocal. It’s very earthy and I do like the rawness. The only concern I have is that sometimes you have a slightly pained expression – I want to see you loosen up a little bit and enjoy the words. You’re supposed to be feeling good.”
Barry said: “You’ve been a favorite of mine and you had a lot of anguish in that rendition of the song.”
Cleo and Keisha gained the least amount of votes and had to sing a rendition of I Know Him So Well in order to survive.
Then it was up to Andrew Lloyd Webber alone to choose which Nancy should be saved for another week.
He said: “I’m going to base my decision on what I’ve just heard tonight and save Keisha … I don’t think this is the right result tonight,” and went on to say that he knew Cleo would go on to bigger things.
Cleo said: “I’m going to take every moment and every second of this experience and go on to pursue my career in the arts. And, I still feel like a star no matter what!”
